WHEN: December 7th
WHERE: Emma's
WHAT: Jonah has newly returned, but he's not himself...
WARNING: Cuteness? Log reads backwards
After the initial shock began to wear off, Emma turned her head enough to glance at him. He was just sitting there, touching his lips. Not saying anything. She looked away and without saying a word hurried into the kitchen where she would at least be out of sight. The wall separating the kitchen from the living room blocked the image of her pacing back and forth. She didn't know what to say, she just couldn't stand out there completely still. She had to move.

Jonah touched his lips where she'd so softly captured. He'd never experienced that before except as Maddison. First it had been Envy's disgusting touches and licking (those were not kisses), and then from Patience. His protective, sweet kisses. But Emma, this was pure affection and love. He was just more confused than ever. He didn't know how to respond.

There was absolutely nothing Emma could do that would fix this. She had stepped over a very obvious line and there was no going back. She was standing there, freaking out, and his voice was a distant echo. Her own voice seemed strange and alien in response, "Yes..." she said reluctantly because since there was no going back she might as well be very honest.

Jonah just sat there in shock, his fingers reaching to touch his lips where hers had been. It was such a warm and strange feeling. He wasnt sure how he was supposed to act. "Is that how you feel about me?" He asked with his hear jumping around in his throat.

Emma thought her heart might beat its way right out of her chest. She offered a half-smile, a feeling of hope rising up, though still with no idea what to say now. She had finally bridged that gap from tension-awkward to what-happens-now-awkward and there were no words.
As they sat there in silence, her expression changed from that relieved half-smile to the realization of exactly what she'd just done and finally to complete shock. She let go of him and sat back, turning away from him. Now her heart was beating for an entirely different reason: She was freaking out inside. "I can't believe I just-" She stood up, practically jumping up from the couch. "Jonah, I'm sorry. I can't believe I did that. I had no right. I'm sorry." She ran her hands through her hair , trying to figure out how in the world to work through this and make it right.

Jonah didn't know if it was normal that his stomach fluttered so much as she pulled away. He still felt the warmth on his lips, his eyes not yet open. He wondered if it was a dream. Was she his imagination? Was he supposed to be day dreaming such things?
When his eyes fluttered open, he met hers with an odd silence. He wasn't sure he could even croak out a response yet.

Falling for someone wasn't new for Emma, considering she'd had her share of boyfriends in the past. Nothing ever too serious or that lasted very long. She was much like her mother in that way. For all she knew the way she felt about Jonah would end up the way those others had: A memory. But Jonah was different. She hadn't felt this way about anyone else. It had been killing her to keep everything bottled up inside.
Emma didn't know how much time had elapsed since she so boldly made her move. As she slowly released herself from the kiss, her eyes opened. There was a slightly embarrassed yet relieved look on her face. She was still holding onto him. There were no words good enough now. She just sat there, looking at him, waiting for a reaction. The full shock of what she had just done hadn't quite sunk in yet.

This was new and different, quite honestly it scared Jonah. It had scared Madison when her feelings for Patience bordered something more than friendliness. His heart was pumping in his throat, a tremble in his hands as he kept them at his side. What did he do?
It seemed Madison's confusion was just seeping over to him. She'd beat herself up and now he was doing the same time. Despite his fear, there was some calm and acceptance in Emma's sweetness.

Jonah's presence alone was usually enough to keep her feelings at bay, but the time they'd spent apart had made her miss him. His returning had reminded her just how much she had missed him and how important he was to her. When he didn't pull away she took that as a sign of acceptance. Maybe he had wanted this tool and things could be different. She leaned in more, this time wrapping her arms around his neck. Self control he may be, but she couldn't help herself.

Her father also had that strong spirit that hed inevitability passed on to her. So, when her lups met his, Jonah felt frozen. He didn't even think he'd ever felt such a thing, let alone think about it until Zoe....and now Emma. He could feel his cheeks turn hot, not knowing what to do. He just closed his eyes, accepting it but assuming it was just a daydream.

Emma had been brought up to take action when there was something she wanted. Her mother had taught her to be independent and strong. She shook her head, knowing very well she was staring. She couldn't help it. She looked as though something was on her mind and had something to say. Instead, she leaned over and kissed him. On the lips. Her hand came up to rest on his cheek. This might be a very bad idea, but too much time had passed without him around and she had to do something now before he disappeared again.

Emma found it very difficult not to keep glancing over at him. This wouldn't have been so awkward and difficult before. She didn't know why it felt so weird; they'd hung out plenty of times. She didn't comment on how he seemed to be staring at her. That would just make this even more awkward. "How's the tea?"

"How's your father?" He knew her father had become a very prominent person in her life. It had opened her eyes to immortals, which may be a curse more than a blessing sometimes. He kept his eyes on the tea, leaning forward to grab a cup, then asking before he did. He wouldn't assume he could just grab at things that didn't belong to him. He wasn't as forward as his sister.
He let the tea soothe his throat and he closed his eyes to enjoy it. When he opened them his eyes drifted to her, and he realized he was probably staring. Was it a dream?

Emma came out of her daze when she heard Jonah's voice. She might have stood there much longer without realizing it. "Oh, they're fine. They were extremely happy when I got back," she said in a louder voice so she could be heard better from the kitchen. She pulled out her tea pot, some mugs and her Earl Grey. The kettle started to shriek and Emma pulled it from the burner before pouring the water into the tea pot, tossing some tea bags in to steep. She set it all on a tray and started out of the kitchen, pausing momentarily to add the gift to the tray. When she returned to the living room she looked more calm and together. "I stayed at my moms for a couple of weeks before I pried myself away to see my dad." She set the tray on the coffee table, this time taking a seat across from him.

Jonah fanned his shirt. He felt flush. He situated himself on the sofa, trying not too appear so anxious. Whatever feelings he'd left with, had certainly risen themselves back to the surface. He figured he'd make some small talk.
"How is your family?" He had no idea what had happened to her in his absence other than her trip out of the county.

Emma nodded, "Great." She walked to the kitchen as casually as possible, though she wanted to sprint there. The tap was turned on and Emma stared at the water as it filled up the kettle. All those feelings had come racing back when he showed up. They only seemed to get stronger the longer she sat with him; she'd needed some space to breathe, think. She couldn't describe the happiness she felt at his return. But that one feeling, the one she had had to bury before, it was right there. Before she knew it the kettle was overflowing and and exclaimed, shutting off the water. She wiped it down with a dish towel and set it in the stove, turning the heat on. She could have one back to the living room but she didn't feel it just yet. A little more space. Her eyes fell on the box and she reached out to pick it up. It hasn't moved from that spot since she got back from her trip.

"Tea would be great," Jonah responded in a soft voice. He felt a sense of urgency to follow her to the kitchen, but he'd learn a bit of patience from his brother. He didn't want to spook her. Perhaps he needed to just be calm and careful with how close he was to others. He didn't want to come across as desperate and confuse himself even more.

She moved her arms away before standing up abruptly, "I'll go make some tea." Doing something besides sitting there, looking at his face would do her some good.

Emma had the urge to call out, but she held back. After the hell she'd gone through over the last couple of years, she had learned not to make it obvious she was home. If it had been her father she would have known. Their connection had only grown stronger and she could fully sense his presence, even if she was only part immortal. There was a time when she could sense Jonah, even if only a little. But with all the time that had elapsed since she last saw him, she didn't feel him anymore. She figured it was a neighbor or solicitor, even though she had a 'no solicitor' sign hanging on her door.
When she went to look through the peep hole she thought her heart stopped. It took much longer than she meant to to open the door. She was just stunned by who she saw through that tiny hole. Then she door opened slowly and she couldn't believe her eyes, "Jonah?" She looked completely baffled, "What are you-" She didn't know what to say.

Things were entirely too complicated with Temperance since Envy and her resurrection through a dirty lake left for the fish to eat. Madison had grown in her affections to Patience because he'd been the kind hand to guide her back. But, things had started to get blurry and she didnt feel comfortable. She'd been put through unimaginable things through Envy and then questioned her very existence. She needed space and time to heal. The only way she could do that was to let Jonah take over.
Since then, Jonah had been a little disjointed. It may not have been his body and mind that had been taken through Envy's torture chamber, but it was still his being and a part of him. Jonah felt a little disjointed and out place. He didn't really have a place to live, Madison had left Zoe's. He didn't have a dog anymore and he was just left having to relearn what to do with himself. He was staying with Patience, but he had to get out. The only other person he thought to seek out right now was Emma. So he knocked on the door hoping she was there.
Things had been looking up for Emma. The impromptu trip across Europe last year had done her some good. It had allowed her to reflect on the things that had happened to her and in her life. But being back was a relief. And having a new job was an even bigger relief now that she needed to make money in order to pay her bills and buy food. She had missed her parents, even turned down staying with her mother longer than a week for some catch up. The job was a little draining, emotionally, physically and mentally. But it was something she had been wanting for a long time. Now that she had it she wasn't about to let it go. Today was like most others, except that it was the end of the work week and she could rest for a couple of days. She was fortunate that she had every weekend off.
She had just finished lugging up some bags of groceries for the week, placing them on the kitchen counter where she would sort everything out. After everything was taken out of the bags she started going through them, cold things in the fridge right away and everything else was left out until she found their proper places. In the corner counter, sitting perfectly in the little crook of the corner, sat the gift Emma had gotten for Jonah. She wasn't sure why she'd kept it. She could have given it to someone else, or thrown it out, or just kept it for herself. She didn't know whether she'd see him ever again, whether this girl-Temperance was it. She glanced at the gift every now and then as she came to collect a new item and put it away.
