Lena's eyes widened at the mere thought that he could have been following her for weeks. She shuddered and shook her head. "No, no. I- He would have gotten bored-" she said, not sounding so sure.
"Hey, come here," Thomas said, finally moving, but only to reach out and wrap Lena in his arms. He kissed her hair and held her close. "He's gone and he's too afraid to mess with us. It's okay. I love you."
Lena buried her face in his chest and just leaned there against him, listening to his heartbeat for a moment. "I love you too," she finally murmured.
