Thetis jumped up, rushing to Peleus' side to see if he was alright. "I don't think it's broken," she said, peering at his nose. "But you'll definitely want to ice that later." She pulled a few napkins off the table, passing to them to him so he could staunch the bleeding from his nose.
Once she was sure he would be fine, she rose, turned back to her son, and slapped him across the face. "Shame on you," she told him vehemently, not even bothering to moderate her volume or tone. "No one is allowed to be happy if you're not, is that it? How dare someone find something in their life to cherish and hold close. I know you're suffering and time has changed you, and I am sorry for that, but this is not what I taught you. And until you're willing to at least keep a civil tongue in your head, I don't even know if I want to see very much anymore."
