Things were actually pretty quiet around the house. JJ and Nicholas were both off somewhere, and Jesse had the run of the place. He wasn't doing very much, mostly staying wrapped in a blanket watching Netflix. To him, it was way too cold to do anything else.

Isaiah had called out sick to his classes on Friday, and he and Adrian had gotten on a train to NYC to go and see their brothers. Isaiah didn't know how to feel, he hadn't seen either of them for years, for Jesse, it had been a decade since he'd last laid eyes on him.

He didn't really know where they were going, but he clambered into a taxi with Adrian, which took them to an enormous house, bigger than anything he'd ever seen. He stood on the porch next to Adrian, looking over at him apprehensively, then ringing the bell before he could talk himself out of it.

Jesse disentangled himself from the blankets, heading toward the door to see who was out in this weather, and what they wanted with him. But when he opened the door, all he could do was stare. "Holy fucking shit," he finally breathed out.

	"Jesse," Adrian said softly, hoping their older brother wasn't about to slam the door in their faces. "Uhm...we thought we might come visit, is- is that okay?" Nicholas, who had been in the kitchen cooing some gumbo, heard the commotion and wandered out to the entry way. He hung back a little, but watched the scene in front of him. 	Isaiah waved meekly from his position slightly behind Adrian. "Yeah, Ade-Ade said you and Jayden lived up here, and we just...wanted to see you." Jesse startled slightly at Nicholas' voice. "What? "Your broth- Oh." Nicholas immediately went into the kitchen to fetch some coffee for all of them and give hem some space.

Adrian stepped inside, not even realising he was unconsciously keeping himself between Jesse and Isaiah. He didn't really know Jesse all that well and after connecting with his younger brother again, Adrian was feeling incredibly protective of Isaiah. "We're sorry to surprise you, we just didn't know how you would react. I'm sick of being so far away from all of you though. I'm going to be living in the city from now on."

"If you'd found me about five years ago, it might have been different," Jesse sighed, closing the door behind them. "But I grew up a lot since then, and I can only carry enough hate over the long haul for one person. I'm not really sure I could stay mad at y'all if I tried, if I ever really was."

"Dad said he'd toss us out too, if we said anything," Isaiah added. "Basically he wanted to pretend you didn't exist at all."

Jesse sighed again. "That doesn't surprise me. But hey, Adrian, it's great that you'll be living here now. I'm tired of not seeing all of you, of knowing nothing that's going on in your lives. We should...we should fix that."

Adrian nodded when Isaiah mentioned there would have been repercussions if they had done anything to help Jesse. "Sometimes we did say things and there were- consequences," he said glancing at Isaiah. He had seen Richard slap his younger brother more than once. "We were powerless." Besides, they had had other things to concentrate on eventually anyway.

"But yeah, we- We should fix it. I'm sorry we couldn't help you, Jesse. What out father did was wrong. I want you to know I never agreed with him." He pointed towards the kitchen, "is he your boyfriend?"

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you guys," Jesse said sadly, twisting his fingers together. "I wish-I wish I would have known, I wish I could have done something."

"Or Dad would have shot you if you came back," Isaiah said darkly.

Jesse let out a bark of laughter, though there was no real humor in it. "More than likely, yeah." Then he smiled at Adrian. "Thank you," he said. "That's good to know. And yeah, he is. We reconnected a while after I moved here, he was the boy Dad found out about. And things just kind of...fell into place."

Nicholas came back out of the kitchen and he shooed all of them into the living room, a tray of coffee things in one hand. "Come on, you lot. Sit down at least. Have some coffee. Do you want me to disappear? I'm Nicholas by the way."

Adrian sort of shied away from Nicholas, settling down in a chair as far away from the other man as possible. "Nice to meet you, Nicholas," he said anyway. "You can stay, it's okay." As long as Nicholas didn't try to touch him.

Isaiah took the chair next to Adrian, doing his best to squash down the feeling of unease. Nicholas wasn't that man, but he was still on alert. "Yes, nice to meet you," he echoed.

"Every time we get guests, you turn into the perfect host," Jesse said, smiling fondly and taking his mug of coffee.

"So anyway, what have you both been up to?" he asked. "Did you go to college, find jobs, what?"

	Nicholas grinned and he sat beside Jesse, kissing his temple gently. He did, however, remain silent. "I uhm- I just wanted to get out so I became a missionary. Didn't believe any of it for a second, obviously, but I went along with it because it got me out of the country. I got to help people. Jesse, where's Jayden?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Jesse had been about to make a comment about the mission work, but when Adrian asked him where Jayden was, he closed his mouth again. He sighed heavily, leaning forward, elbows on knees.

"I don't have to tell either of you that Dad did a number on all of us," he began. "But Jay...when I went back to get him, he was so thin. Dad kept him locked in his room without food if he talked back, and he'd basically left him at the mercy of the kids who tormented him."

"When we got back to New York, things seemed OK, but then he stopped...he stopped eating. And one day he finally collapsed, because his heart wasn't beating right. I found him in the entryway." He glanced over at the door, swallowing hard.

"We had to commit him," he said heavily. "They had him on a feeding tube or he would have died. And he needed more help than any of us could give him. So he's at a treatment center for eating disorders. And he actually seems like he's doing a bit better, I just went to see him the other day."

Isaiah had listened to all of this with his mug halfway to his lips. He put it down before saying, "Son of a motherfucking bitch."

"Pretty much."

	"That's what I said," Jesse said, running his fingers through his hair. "And I'm glad he's dead, because I probably would have killed himself once I found out." "Yeah, get in line," Isaiah muttered. 	"Of course," Adrian said quickly. "Absolutely, I- I would have been here sooner if I had known. I was throwing myself into helping other people and I should have been helping my brother." His guilt wasn't anyone else's to bear though. "I'm sorry, I- I took us off track. Ask Genius here what he's been doing." They could focus on Jayden when they got to see him. "You didn't know, Ade, none of us did," Isaiah said. "None of us knew anything."

Jesse obliged. "Genius, huh? Figured you'd go off to college. What're you studying?"

"Architecture," Isaiah answered. "I'm actually graduating in May, so, you know, if you and Jayden want to come down to Boston for the ceremony, I'd like that. We all missed each other's...well, everything. And then I think I'm coming up here to do post-grad, I've sent in applications all up and down the East Coast, so we'll see who bites. Crossing my fingers for NYU, though."

	Adrian actually smiled at that. "If he gets in we could all be in the same city again. I would love that. Our father tried to keep us apart and we came together again anyway. It would...it would make me really happy," he admitted. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"You'll get in," Jesse said confidently. "I have faith. And yeah, if we could all be in the same place...I would love that."

Isaiah gave him a small, tiny smile. "Thanks, Jesse," he said. "So what about you, what have you been up to?"

Jesse shrugged. "Got a job as a courier, looking after Jay, we moved house a couple months ago because people are creepy. I thought JJ was going to cut someone."

"We all kind of put our heads together in picking it out," Jesse said, smiling slightly. "But yeah, seriously. Come by whenever you want, it's been way too fucking long."

"Oh, right, I didn't tell you that part," Jesse said, lightly smacking his forehead. "JJ's my girlfriend. She drove the van back to Louisiana, since I had a broken leg at the time. And Nicholas came too, and we did a lot of talking while we were down there. And it just felt like it was supposed to be this way. Felt right. And it's working out pretty well."

	"They do," Jesse said, smiling slightly. "And I love them both and just feel so grateful for where I'm at right now. Total turnaround from when I first got here five or six years ago. "I missed y'all too," Jesse said heavily. "And I wish I could have taken you with me, and not left you behind to deal with Dad and everything else. I just...I felt terrible. And I carried around a lot of guilt for a long time."

Isaiah got up from his chair, and went over to squeeze Jesse's hand. "It wasn't your fault, Jesse," he said simply. "You want to lay blame on someone, throw it on Dad's grave."

	Adrian hugged the both of them really close, trying not to cry. Oh god it was wonderful. The moment didn't last, however. As they clung to each other, the phone rang. Nicholas jumped up to answer it but a moment later he interrupted the cuddle. "Uhm...I'm sorry. Jesse, it's- It's the hospital." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Jesse looked over at Nicholas, his heart sinking into his stomach. Isaiah looked at Jesse, worry all over his face. 	Adrian reached out for Isaiah's hand without even realising he had done so, while a hospital administrator explained that Jayden had been admitted and that he was in terrible condition. That he had been found in a motel room chained to a bed and left there. He was advised to come visit. (Reply to this) (Parent)
