Jayden's eyes widened as Kleio told her story. "Whoa, that's a lot of siblings. I can imagine it gets complicated, yeah." She didn't look old enough to have older kids, but he was hardly going to bring that up when she had told him one of those children hadn't made it.
"I'm sorry," he said, reaching out a hand to her. Jayden wasn't usually a tactile person with anyone other than Jesse, but this was a Big Thing. He wasn't going to ignore it. "I can't imagine. I lost my mother, but I was four. I don't really remember her that well."
