She was a little startled at his words, and finally came down a little from where she'd been. And then figured she felt kind of numb. It all hadn't hit her yet. And if she broke down now she'd never stop and she didn't want to freak out Deirdre.
The poor girl looked confused enough, knowing something had happened but not knowing what. she focused on that and moved towards the two. "We will." she was amazed how not bothered she sounded. She could deal with everything later, and the pamphlets all spoke of support groups.
"The surgery is next week. Treatment is a month after that I'm going to talk to them, see what's best. If taking stuff out is going to get me well sooner, then I'm doing that." Saying all this made her more sure. Give her a goal and she'd accomplish it. If it was something she could make a plan for, she'd throw herself at it. She gave Deirdre a smile. "Unplanned as she was I'm kind of glad for it now." She knew what hysterectomy would mean, but it was another thing to deal with later. Both Deirdre and victor needed her strong now, not a mess. She could be a ball of tears in Vic's arms later.
"I'm going to beat this." If she said it, it would be true. "I'm going to get old and grey and make you make ice cream for me Vic." She went to make him look at her. "And we're going to get married. But I want to keep Deirdre as unaffected as we can. She'll know I'm sick I can't hide that but I'm not going to burden her until she's old enough to understand."
"And then I'm going to get my grandfather to pay for all this." She knew Victor had money set aside. But she didn't want that touched. She didn't really know why yet. "I'm going to cry about this later so just remind me I said all this but I don't want to confuse Deirdre. You're both my reasons. Okay?"
