Thomas glanced back and forth between his wife and son, unable to think of anything to say. He had been having a talk with Jamie and all of a sudden his life was crumbling around him. Oh god, Lena was going to leave and Jamie and Roxanna would move out-
"I-" he started to say, but the words died in his throat. He wanted to make excuses, but they would be lies, every last one of them.
"You don't have to go anywhere, Roxanna," Lena assured the other woman. "Thomas, did you fucking lie to us when we were throwing your pills out, or did you actually get more afterwards?"
Oh god, he couldn't breathe. "Lena, please-"
"You better answer the fucking question, Thomas, or I'm leaving and you can sit here and decide if lying to me was really worth it."
Thomas stood up when Lena threatened to leave, terrified now he was about to lose his wife.
He had only had her less than a week.
"Oh, Jesus. I- I- Don't go. I asked Victor for more. I'm sorry! Please. Please don't go!"
