David could feel his eyes widening as Jayden talked. "Kids can be cruel bastards to each other, can't they?" he sighed, shaking his head. "It's just awful that your dad wouldn't look out for you. My mom told me it's never good to wish death on anyone, but, well...I'm glad you got away from him."
He smiled softly. "It's fine, really. But no, he's not. Last time we talked, he had a new girlfriend who just...sounds like a piece of work. They deserve each other."
