Even though Jamie had made a bit of noise about not being overly thrilled about his birthday, he could still acknowledge that he'd reached a sort of milestone. Second decade of life, and all that. Plus, it was one day out of the year that was really his day, and he was only human, he did like a bit of attention.

He could smell delicious things coming from the kitchen, but for the moment, stayed in his room. The light outside was casting some really interesting shadows on the sidewalk in front of the house, and he wanted to try and sketch some of them before they disappeared.

"I broke my wrist once," Theseus offered without much shame. "It was a good party." He smiled fondly at Jamie, "well good considering otherwise my plan was to track you down."

He looked to Jayden and frowned. "Shitty folks?" He sounded sympathetic. Him and Jamie were lucky, and he was aware of it. It was awful when one's parents weren't so accepting. "It is my sworn duty to make Thomas' head explode in glee." He offered a nod to that before smiling. "You say that like I'm not likable. But speaking of parentals." He drew a card from his pocket and handed it to Jamie. "Ma and George sends this." He knew it had some money in it. "She didn't know what to get you and George said money always works so they say happy birthday. And don't listen to me but you know ignore that part."

"You say that like it's a bad thing," Jamie replied, smiling at Theseus.

"Aw, that's really nice of them, thank you," he said, opening the card and reading it. "I'll have to thank them the next time I see them. And yeah, I get the warning a lot. Can't imagine why."

"Dad's special," he told Jayden, shaking his head. "He's happy when the people in his life are happy, he's always been kind of...exuberant. He's just full of emotions."

He sucked in a breath when Jayden told them about his dad. "Shit, that's awful," he said. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that."

"Well no but my point remains." Smirking he gave Jamie a hug before glancing to Jayden. "Sorry to hear man. Yeah I got lucky to. My dad was the first person I came out to and he was nothing but supportive till he passed. My Ma's practically adopted Jamie here and George, he's my stepdad, told me if I fuck up and lose Jamie I'm a complete moron."

"So sorry to. But no one here's gonna make you feel that way, I can promise you that. And if they do, just tell me I'll straighten them out. Or Kat, she's Jamie's best friend. Also kind of frightening for someone who comes up to like halfway to my chest."

"Same," Jamie said. "He told me later he was terrified I'd followed in his footsteps and gotten someone pregnant, so I think he was just relieved I hadn't. And he hugged me and told me he still loved me, and nothing would ever change that."

"Kat's been there for me through...so much crap," Jamie added. "She's pretty damn great. When Dad was in the hospital, she was helping to keep me sane."
