WHO: Greed & Zoe w/Andras
WHEN: Saturday
WHERE: Vermont Church
WHAT: Ghost hunting
WARNING: Demonic dogs
Zoe dragged her feet as the sun was setting and she and Greed were walking down the deserted road to the church, which looked beautiful in the day but was looking ominous with the light fading from it. She wore jeans and a white tank top and a plaid open shirt on top of that with the sleeves rolled up. It wasSaturday so the place wasn't gonna have people there but that made it worse in her opinion.

Greed was so excited to venture out into the haunted world inside this old church. The moon had just peered out into the dark sky, making visibility of the whole street just a little bit more frightening to those who jumped at the smallest sound. Zoe clung to his arm as he smacked the flashlight. He'd just put fresh batteries inside it, so there was no reason it had to die before they even got inside the church.
It was silent except for the creak of the door as they stepped inside. It was a gorgeous night, perfect weather for this little adventure.
_____________________________________
Zoe had grabbed his arm when they got closer and when he opened the door, she whispered to him, "Maybe we should see if someone's here. Like the priest. What if he lives here? With nuns? What if they're sleeping..." clearly just wanting to go.
_____________________________________
"You opened this can of worms. We are going in. No sleeping nuns or priests are going to stop me from finding ghosts. Well, unless they are ghosts. Then the party starts." He handed her the flashlight and rubbed his hands together followed by a clap. Whatever resided in this place Greed was about to wake up.
"Come out, come out wherever you are!" He yelled so that his voice carried into the sanctuary. Any silence that had been there Greed had broken it.
_____________________________________
"Ohmygod, I did not!" she smacked him and then fumbled with the flashlight when he gave it to her. She closed her eyes when he yelled but only an echo greeted them. She hoped it was an echo. "Wait, are ghosts real?" she asked as she grabbed onto the side of his jacket and waved the flashlight around, "Have you ever seen one or met one?" he was an immortal fantasy loon, didn't they know about this stuff?
_____________________________________
"I dunno probably. It's not impossible." In the world he lived in nothing was shocking. "I've not meet one personally, but doesn't mean I won't now."
_____________________________________
"We are so going swimming when we get home for this..." but when her light caught the writing along the wall talking about the church and its history, she moved from Greed's side to go read about it.
_____________________________________
Greed made a grunt. "That wasn't part of the deal!" Nothing was going to get through him to her, he wasn't going to let it happen. He was looking down the aisle of pews with the flashlight while she stopped to read. "Anything interesting?"
_____________________________________
"Fiiiiiine..." she said imitating him from the day before, "You can give me a driving lesson in exchange." she nodded when he asked her, "Yeah... this church back famous because it used to be considered a portal for hell." she gave him a look, "Are there portals for that kinda stuff?"
_____________________________________
"A portal? Really?" He seemed curious as he shone the light around various spots across the main room. "What gave them that idea? A few exorcisms and a dead body?" He started to walk around looking for anything that caught his eye. Trinkets, gold, anything. This place was huge and they hadn't even tapped into the rest beyond the pulpit.
_____________________________________
Zoe kept reading and said, "Apparently people who were thought to be dead kept being seen here so the priest in charge used it as a way to frighten his parishioners and tell them about how wicked they were and their sins cracked the earth open below and now souls were leaking right back out and maybe something worse like demons might come out. He rallied everyone together to donate to the church to 'repair' it, but he pretty much just made it bigger and that's why it's so pretty and expensive looking...." she bet Greed would get a kick out of that.
_____________________________________
"Ooooooh, that sounds like fun!" He bounced on the balls of his feet, dragging her along through the maze. "So the whole church is over the pit of hell? Let's see if I can wake up some of these ghosts." Nothing had popped up yet, which was very disappointing.
_____________________________________
She frowned as she read something else but he was already dragging her along, "I don't know if it actually is or if the dude was just trying to scam for money.. wait, is there an actual pit?" the further they walked, the darker it got it seemed, "Why don't you wake up the ghosts, and I can go back and sleep at the hotel? Hmm? Doesn't that sound nice?" he could party in private with demons and dead people and she could hide under the covers.
_____________________________________
"I don't know if I'd call hell an actual pit as much as it's a place and state of mind. But I would call fire and brimstone fairly accurate. Dante actually had a good idea in describing hell. He'll is also what you believe it to be. It's all in your own interpretation. But it is a party down there." He smiled taking her by the hand and headed down a corridor of stain glass windows. "If there is a demon coming after you I imagine I can ward them off. Like that big black puppy you ran into one night."
_____________________________________
Zoe knew her hell would be filled with finals, ex-boyfriends, Lust, and Poseidon. She shuddered and squeezed his hand, "That doesn't sound like a party..." she looked startled, "You imagine you can ward them off? And that was NOT a puppy." she stopped walking when she swore she heard the noise of Samson's nails on the floor. Only this sounded like a godzilla version of Samson.
_____________________________________
"All in how you look at it." He guessed hell could be horrible for him and his siblings but it was home. Not the ending most preached. Greed was so wrapped up in talking that he hadn't even heard the smell of a hell hound. He didn't even hear it stomping on the floor with a taste for blood.
_____________________________________
"I guess if you were there it wouldn't be so bad." and she rested her head on his bicep, but then frowned, "Then it wouldn't really be hell then.." god, this stuff was confusing. She was nervous now as she swore she heard something rattling around, "Chance... Chance, let's go the other way. Please." it sounded like they were going TOWARD whatever was there.
_____________________________________
"But I wanna go this way. Don't worry about the dark I've got a light." It was about the time he spoke that the light went out and the deep growl from the hound carried in the air, waiting for a chance to strike.
_____________________________________
Zoe tensed when the light went out and at the growl, she let out a high pitched squeal of fright and practically tackled him, burying herself in his chest so she didn't have to see whatever that was that made that hungry noise.
_____________________________________
"Was that my stomach?" He looked down slapping the light against his hands to try and jumpstart it. When it flickered another growl erupted with a ferocious bark. It was clear to Greed they were not alone and he had heard that bark before. A demon had come. Perhaps there was a portal hiding in the bowels of this church.
_____________________________________
Something big and heavy made a loud THUMP as it jumped and landed somewhere down the hall and if Zoe could have split Greed open and crawled inside him she would have. Instead, she bounced in terror and wriggled all over his front as she grabbed on to him, "Can we go now??" she squeaked out.
_____________________________________
Greed tried to keep her from panicking because wherever they stepped the dog followed trying to corner them. "You can show yourself. No sense in hiding." He had a feeling who was dealing with. "We've crossed paths before."
_____________________________________
Zoe was clinging to Greed, her hands grabbing his jacket and her eyes shut tightly, face and body pressed against him. "No no no, let them hide!" she said in a harsh whisper. The growl echoed off the walls that trembled as each footfall hit the ground, but it wasn't a foot, it was a paw. The hellhound sounded like he had a sinus problem with how his nose snuffled and he sniffed at the air, Zoe's scent was something still marked on him, it would be till she was dead. But there was one big difference this time, there was no stink of sulfur, the hound was without his master.
_____________________________________
"You're alone." He could sense that distinct difference of the monster on his own. "Where's your master? He the one to let you out of your kennel, or did you just bust loose?" The hound released that ferocious bark. Not so ferocious that it made Greed bat an eyelash, but he squeezed Zoe to his chest. "Go sniff out some new bait pup. This one's mine."
_____________________________________
Zoe shuddered against Greed at the bark and held on tight, she knew he wouldn't let the dog get her... but she didn't know if the dog knew that. The hellhound now recognizing the scent of Zoe let out a howl that sounded like nails down a chalkboard, the sound of a hunter finding its prey, and Zoe buried her face again. The dog moved a paw that was bigger than Greed's head forward, claws elongating as the hellhound's eyes flashed red and he bowed his head with ears twitching, getting ready.
_____________________________________
The dog sniffed at his feet, that snarl pulling his lips back as he barred his teeth. When Greed lowered his hands in command the dog dropped his head. "You will not touch her or I will snap your neck." The dog licked his hand but quickly turned his welcome into a vicious growl at the threat. "I don't think your master is in the mood for a new pet. If Andras wants to come at me he can show himself."
_____________________________________
Before Greed even finished talking, all the cabinets, doors, shutters, in the entire church banged open and shut repeatedly, making Zoe jump and give another squeal of fright, covering her ears with her hands and not leaving Greed's side. That stench came in the room when the noise stopped, voice as smooth as silk saying, "Now didn't your mother ever teach you not to evoke demon's names." The shadows shifted and the voice came from them, "She should have since she's the devil." the hellhound turned his head a little at his master's voice but when Zoe made a small movement, his ears perked again and he started sniffing at her leg.
_____________________________________
"Did they let you out to play?" Greed put on a fake smile and laugh, kicking the pup in the face. "Call off your hound."
_____________________________________
The shadows sighed, "No.." saying it in that tone that Greed was stupid, "Demon. Saying my name is as good as inviting me over. And same goes for Donny here." the kick just annoyed the beast and his massive jaws opened wide, acidic spit flying out and getting on his and Zoe's clothes as he barked and went to take a massive bite out of Zoe's butt or Greed's arm. The shadows shifted as Andras' voice said, "He's still sore he never got to have his meal that day, he thought you were inviting him to finish it." the darkness fell silent as the demon's eyes went to Zoe. Hmmm.
_____________________________________
"Are you fishing in my pond? Because if you are, I insist you stop now." Greed had said the magic words, but he hoped it would ward the demon away a second time. "Whatever you're after isn't yours to take." He was getting possessive, and when that dog lunged again Greed kicked him in the face and shoved him down. "Call off your mutt before you have to get a new one." Tangling with demons was nothing new. Tangling with demons that could rip the flesh of Zoe's bones with one whistle however, was not something he was going to stand for and watch happen.
_____________________________________
"You called me, you ingrate." the voice getting a slight edge before melting back into it's smoothness, "But as the child of the boss wishes...." he was an upper level demon but he wasn't a Sin baby. And he knew how Satan, as much as he hated his little pseudo kin, did treat the brats like his own. The hellhound didn't even yelp, he just growled at the kick and the shadows went "Tsk tsk tsk.. Donny, leave the Sin alone.. and his... little mortal. The same mortal he's had for over a year.. when his attention span normally doesn't last more than a few minutes.." the hellhound barked at Greed and it sounded like a lion roaring and he stepped back and then lunged forward suddenly and bit Zoe's leg making her scream and grab on to Greed tighter. But Andras just chuckled evilly, because as the hellhound trotted over to the shadows, it showed that he had taken a bite out of her jeans, exposing her naked calf but didn't pierce the skin, just some drool. Naughty doggy, he loved to tease the girls.
_____________________________________
"What happens if someone else has your name? You make house calls to everyone?" He jerked the pant leg from the dog's mouth in a tug of war. "Who says she's not my slave? Everyone knew Greed likes being pampered." Zoe was nothing of the sort to him and she knew it, but greed had to put on face.
_____________________________________
"Only if they're standing on the doorstep of the big house." confirming there was indeed a pit to hell under them. The dog wouldn't give up his prize, shaking his head furiously and yanking on the fabric as he played with Greed. The shadows shifted again as if considering Greed's answer. "Slave.... where did you get her from?" Andras could use a slave. They came in handy.
_____________________________________
"Oh so there is a door here. I thought it was just some ridiculous story." Greed wouldn't let go playing this tug of war with a horse of a dog. "Well if you did your own dirty work you could find your own. On the street. Real easy."
_____________________________________
Zoe stood behind Greed with her hands on his narrow waist as the dog wouldn't budge and neither would her boyfriend. The dog growling and tugging hard with his rancid teeth to get the cloth. The shadows spoke again, "I've been looking... they're all so fragile. I'll trade you two new ones for yours." if Greed's mortal had survived over a year with a Sin, she must be made of tough stuff.
_____________________________________
Greed laughed hysterically not letting go of the fabric, just tugging a little harder when Andras named his price. "I know you didn't just try to bargain something that's mine." If anything this was another way for Greed show off his things. He dragged Zoe out from behind him to take her hand, the gold bracelet sliding from her wrist. "I doubt you have two of anything to replace her."
_____________________________________
When Greed let go of the fabric, the dog went flying back but happily trotted over to the shadows with his prize in his mouth. Zoe's eyes widened as Greed laughed like a maniac and brought her out front. The shadows would have shrugged if possible and Zoe moved closer to Greed as Andras said, "She's old. I'm offering something shiny and new."
_____________________________________
"She's also mine." Greed barred his teeth with the same viciousness as the hound. "You should know how much I hate to part with anything I've claimed as my own. Besides what would you do with her?" This demon was testing him.
_____________________________________
Zoe squeezed Greed's hand, he was getting that dangerous look to him and while she was grateful for his protection, she didn't want him turning evil. The voice from the shadows replied, "Impregnate her." Andras wanted a legacy, he needed to find a mortal that was strong enough to carry hellspawn.
_____________________________________
"Sorry this ones infertile. Don't think you'll be getting babies out of her. I've tried." It wasn't a stretch from the truth, and it would do to keep Andras sniffing for someone else.
_____________________________________
Zoe couldn't help it, she made a slight face. The shadows spoke again, "Broken goods, brings her market value price down. But still.... there is something about her, isn't there? What's your price for her, Sin? You know I can get you anything you want." but as a demon, it was always not exactly as the person pictured it, "King of your own country? Blackbeard's sunken treasure? A fleet of exclusive luxury cars?" he was also trying to gauge how tightly Greed was gonna hold on to this girl.
_____________________________________
"Nothing you can use." Greed was getting testy, his words growling off his lips. "I'm already King of the excesses...and being that we are stuck in this god forsaken country somewhere else would be rather limited wouldn't it?" He was bending the deal and throwing out what was useless to him. "Nice try tho."
_____________________________________
If shadows could smile, it would be what was happening now. The Sin was clever enough to know that Andras could make him King of a country but it'd be some tiny place Greed could only visit. "Then what do you want?" his tone suggested he knew but it was more like he knew that Greed wanted something, something badly and didn't have it. Andras couldn't quite figure out what it was. Zoe still kept a death grip on Greed's hand and her other arm curled around his that was holding her hand, god she hated hell things.
_____________________________________
"Oh there are plenty of things I want, but as we well know I always get what I want." He could feel it bubble up in his chest, the urge to shout out sex with his girlfriend any time, any place, anywhere. The whiplash of that deal he knew would be something grave in return. It wouldn't be that easy. It would have to be a highly detailed plan that he was sure Andras would fuck over. He was a demon, Satan himself would be loads worse. Deals with hell were a loaded gun, and Greed needed to choose wisely, not irrationally. Greed was just so quick to say yes sometimes, he needed to bite his tongue here.
_____________________________________
The shadows shifted again, "Not always." that soothing toe of voice sounding like he could easily fix it. Zoe's hand on Greed's arm tightened, this demon was a dangerous one, way too smooth and she could feel the greed in Greed vibrating, wanting to making a deal but just like last time she was silently telling her love to let it go, these were deals that always ended up costing more than they were worth.
_____________________________________
Andras may not have had an answer to his deal, but the seed was planted. Greed was not human so the ability to say no was not an option when he got an idea in his head. The wheels were working, abs Andras would get seen answer when the time was right. "I find my ways..."
_____________________________________
More doors banged open and shut and Zoe squeezed her eyes shut as the shadows only said, "If one day you don't... you know where to find me." and with that the shadows were gone, the night was still and there wasn't a sound except for Zoe trembling.
_____________________________________
Greed didn't budge as the shadows settled. His heart was racing which she could feel since she was holding his arm so tight. The words were sitting on his tongue, he'd nearly spilled all his cards out on the table and had no regrets.
_____________________________________
She could and she assumed it was because it was a harrowing experience. "I...need... to... sit...." and her hand slid from his arm and she just sat right there on the floor with her ripped jeans leg, only her hand would remain in his.
_____________________________________
Greed was still hung on himself to focus on how panicked she was. That thought was rolling around in his head, gaining tread each time he considered the deal. He felt the tug on his hand, and sat down beside her. "Next time I need a taser."
_____________________________________
She leaned in and against his chest, "Please no next time....." she said it in a small voice and moved their hands so they were still linked but she could bring them in close to her. She was still shaken up.
_____________________________________
"Need to be prepared. Hell hounds don't exactly know when to let a scent go." He let go of her hand to run his fingers through her hair.
_____________________________________
She turned her face in towards him, so she could take comfort in his scent and closed her eyes when he combed her hair with his fingers. She didn't say anything for a few moments and then asked, "What were you going to ask for..?" this was the second time they'd run into this demon and the second time Greed had been tempted to make a deal.
_____________________________________
"Sex. With you. Anywhere. Anytime. It's just the details I've got to get right." Andras would make it backfire, Greed was determined not to let it. As things were now, they were smooth sailing as long as Temperance was in the building, but they wouldn't always have that luxury. Now that the Sin had gotten used to getting what was his, he was gunning for insurance.
_____________________________________
She tugged on the front of his jacket and looked at him with worried eyes, "You're not happy with what we have now?" she sighed, "I mean I know you always want more but...." demons were scary beasts, she knew they were something like his cousins roughly but she didn't think it was worth messing with. But the important thing was if Greed was unsatisfied with their sex life.
_____________________________________
"No, I didn't say that. I just would like to be able to do this sans Virtue without having to lock up the other part of me." It wasn't that he was unsatisfied, he was very satisfied, just he was tired of the limitations. They were experimenting with boundaries via Temperance, but to not have to rely on a Virtue would make Greed feel a lot less dirty.
_____________________________________
She shifted uncomfortably, "He doesn't lock you up... just kinda handcuffs you a bit.." she'd have made a joke about how he liked that but she couldn't manage it. She pulled her leg in, looking at the hellhounds rip it caused and the gross saliva on the ridges and her skin. "You know he wouldn't give it to you, he'd twist it, make his dog watch us or something while we do it."
_____________________________________
"Maybe. Maybe not." He shrugged but those wheels now that they were oiled and greased, there was no stopping them. Greed would eventually make that deal. It was a matter of when, where and just how he made it. It was something Greed wanted, and she knew he'd do anything to get it.
_____________________________________
She still clung to him and asked hopefully, "Do you.. do Sins get some special no fucking over clause in contracts with demons cause of your..... mom." it was such a strange thing to say but he knew what she meant.
_____________________________________
"I don't know. I haven't made a deal with a demon in a long time. What's the worst that happen?" That was a double edged sword and he knew it. His own deals were sometimes laced with something else, it was no surprise none of his kind didn't have the same clause. It was just a matter of how far Greed was willing to jump to get what he wanted, even if it did mean dangling by his own rope around the neck.
_____________________________________
She took his hand and turned it so she could look at the dove tattoo on the inside of his wrist before she kissed it. The worst. She wasn't sure what the worst was. "I could lose you." she finally said in a quiet voice. That would be the worst and when you made deals with demons, the worst always happened.
_____________________________________
"Killing doesn't seem his style." Andras was more laid back than that. He let the hound do his dirty work "If anything I'll just have a few scrapes and scratches...or fleas....."
_____________________________________
"No!" she turned to put her arm around his middle holding him tight. "I was really brave and I didn't cry at all but you're gonna make me cry now if you keep talking like this." a hitch in her voice. She hated seeing him injured and she had a bad feeling that death and physical harm was the least of their worries.
_____________________________________
"I'm just thinking. Laying out all my options." She should be worried if he didn't. It wasn't in his character to say no, no matter how much she had taught him. He was a constant changing idea, but the groundwork that he came from was still the same. Her grip was tight however, squeezing him as if she was able to never let go. He hadn't pampered her worries yet or put them to rest because he was still running through his own head.
