"I'm just pleased you found it again," Jamie said softly. "I didn't want to think I'd lost or broken it somewhere along the way."
"When I was a kid, it was my favorite thing," he said, smiling at her. "It made little shadows on the wall, and I'd just sit in there for hours and draw. I had my pencils, and my lamp, and my Oreos, it was kid paradise."
"I remember Mom's fridge having Jamie-art on it forever, too," Maddy recalled fondly. "I remember looking at it when I was 14, thinking, 'He's 9, and he's probably already drawing better than I will in my lifetime'."
