Jesse shrugged. They were venturing into uncomfortable territory for him, he didn't exactly relish talking about his early days out on his own. "Sometimes there wasn't much choice," he sighed. "Usually there was a church or a shelter that would give me a bed, but once in a while, I wasn't so lucky. I was lucky enough to mostly avoid getting beat up or robbed, but sometimes...shit happened. The first three years or so were the hardest."
