Thalia managed a tired smile for him. "Well thank you," she said. "Thanks for being here, it's good to have you around." She gripped his hand again, letting out a strangled yelp.
"This one's crowning," Hygeia announced. "Come on little man, nearly there." She looked up at Thalia and said, "Alright, give me another big push. Got it in you?"
Thalia gritted her teeth. "Pretty sure I do," she said, bending herself almost in half as she mustered her strength. She felt the baby turn, and she reached deep down within herself for another one. It made every muscle ache, but she gave it everything that she had.
Hygeia grinned, picking up the little boy and smiling at them all. "And let's hear from you too-there we go," she said, as the baby followed in his sister's footsteps and let out a wail.
The first nurse returned with their daughter, cleaned and wrapped in a blanket. She passed her to Prometheus, smiling at the pair of them before withdrawing with the boy to clean and weigh him as well.
"And now the afterbirth, but this'll be a walk in the park after that," Hygeia joked. A few moments later, that had been expelled too, and Thalia collapsed into the bed, exhausted and sweaty, but elated that her children had finally entered the world.
