"Now there's an understatement," she replied. "He just...flies off the handle sometimes, and not even I can calm him down. He rages against those more powerful than either of us, and I couldn't do anything, I had to stand by and know that Ares was on his way to beat him bloody." She sighed and tipped her head forward, letting her hair fall around her face.
"I can't protect him forever," she said, not looking up. "Next time, he might not be so lucky to get away with just a beating. Next time, they might kill him, and I have had more than my fill of watching my son die."
