Thetis had been pleasantly surprised with how well the evening had gone. When they stopped snarling at each other and actually made an effort, they could get along and spend time together. The unstoppable force met the immovable object, and for once, didn't leave destruction and hurt feelings in its wake.
Now they were down by the ocean, and Thetis was sitting close enough to let the waves roll over her calves. The sea calmed her like nothing else could, not even her son. She felt Peleus sit down beside her, she heard the crashing of the waves, she smelled the salt air, and she smiled. Would that they'd had more days like this in Greece. A small pang twinged at her heart, and she tried to will it away. Dwelling on the past would solve nothing. Her time would be much better spent focused on the here and now.
"He was well when we spoke last," she answered. "He seems to be trying to build a new life for himself, and I'm glad for that. He deserves that much."
