Who: Wrath, Pride
What: Walking
Where: Streets in NYC
When: Saturday evening
On days when she worked, Wrath could occupy her mind with menial labour. On days when she had nothing to distract herself with, she would get bogged down by self-loathing. She knew there was no one on Earth who could understand what it felt like to be the embodiment of self-hatred, and even if they did understand, it was likely she would just want to rip them to shreds anyway for showing her any kind of kindness. Wrath didn't want kindness, she just wanted emptiness.
Walking was a way to distract herself. She could focus on the buildings and the people around her, and ignore herself. It was something. So Wrath walked and walked and walked.
Pride had been having a bitch of a day. Her lawyer was incompetent, her driver was a moron and had gotten them lost, effectively making them late, and the red tape was still tightly wrapped around her late husband's estate, no matter how many people she offered to bribe or threatened to harm.
After being dropped back at her building, she noticed she was out of cigarettes, but there was no point in calling the car back, since she didn't want to wait. And even though she would usually consider it beneath her, she left her building on foot, intending to simply go down to the store and go straight back. It was only a few blocks, after all.
She had just left the store and was starting back when she felt the pang of another immortal close by. Normally she would simply dismiss them and go on, but there was something about this one that compelled her to take a closer look. She followed the feeling, heels clicking on the asphalt, until she was practically on top of them. Turning slightly, she found herself looking at another woman that practically screamed 'Sin'.
"Wrath, I presume," she drawled. The anger was practically rolling off of her in waves.
Wrath had felt the same pang following her, but she had been trying to ignore it. When the other Sin was practically on top of her, she turned and raised at eyebrow at her. "What's it to you?"
Pride shrugged, opening her cigarettes and lighting one. "You were the one who said I acted like I was the only Sin in the city," she said, exhaling smoke, her smile mocking. "Perhaps I just wanted to say hello."
Wrath sighed, but her vitriol died in her throat. This was another Sin. Her kin, if she had any. "Hello." Wrath glanced sideways. "Can I bum a smoke?"
Pride held the pack out to her, getting the lighter out of her purse. "And hello to you to," she replied. If there was anybody she would crack the ice queen demeanor even slightly for, it would be another Sin. That wasn't to say she was nice, per se, but she'd be less likely to mess with them just because.
"So it's just us two, hmm?" she asked, taking a drag off her cigarette. "Good. Envy's fucked off to who the fuck knows where, I don't miss him in the slightest."
Wrath took a cigarette and she lit it quickly before shrugging as she exhaled. She handed Pride back her lighter and scuffed at the ground with her shoes. "Didn't even know Envy was here. I heard the Hellqueens are in town," Wrath said with a derisive laugh. "Lust probably isn't far away."
Pride shrugged. "All I know is that he's gone. Good riddance. And yes, I heard that too. I've never really had much to do with them, as long as they keep to themselves, I don't give a damn either way. Although it would be...interesting, I suppose, to see what Lust has been up to."
"Fucking," Wrath suggested. She took a drag off the cigarette and exhaled the smoke through her nose. "What have you been up to?"
