Emma had been working fervently for hours, only taking bathroom breaks and even when she order food it barely had her attention. She gave a start when her classmate showed up with such a flourish. She was right. Emma should be having fun on Spring Break, not working. But she had had a breakthrough recently and needed to get her words out. "I know, just let... me..." she had started before her laptop was shut. Emma took it as a playful reminder that a friend wanted her attention. She sat back, and rubbed her eyes. "You're right. Just let me save," she said, opening the laptop and taking only enough time to save the file and shutdown before pulling out the flash-drive and returning it to her key chain.
Then she sat back and stretched a little, "You know what. Yeah, let's have some fun tonight." Only a couple days before, her dad had reminded her to let loose sometimes. It wasn't even dinner time yet, but right now that's just what she needed and she better take this opportunity. She put her laptop away, tucking it into its bag and then stood up with a relieved groan. It felt so good to stand up.
