Thomas frowned sadly, wishing that he still had the power to make his son believe he was magical. "I'm sorry that ever had to change," he lamented.
"Come flip the cakes, Thomas," Lena suggested, and Thomas moved to do just that. Lena sat beside Jamie, smiling sadly at him. "I hate the dreams, because while you're dreaming it always feels so much like they're winning, you know? It feels real and terrible and scary. We get to wake up though. Waking up is like winning. After the calming down, of course!"
