Entry tags:briareos, kymopoleia

WHO: Kymopoleia & Briareos
WHEN: Sunday night
WHERE: One of the bars they've been to before
WHAT: Still awkward between them
WARNINGS: vague mentions of rape, tba

When Ky looked up at the feeling of Briareos entering the dingy bar, she sighed and half-glared at her beer. Things were bumpy between them, but that could hardly be a surprise. Things had shifted - kept shifting, their twisted relationship acting like the sea they were both locked to.

She'd saved his life. By choice. On purpose.

But then when she'd asked him to go out and drink and he'd suggested the idea that it was a date and Ky had recoiled with horror and fury and indescribable hurt all tangled up together like deep sea kelp. She thought of his hands on her skin and all that came with it was fear and nausea, memories of another time long ago. There was no fucking dates.

They hadn't spoken since, and Kymopoleia hadn't made any plans to go out of her way to speak to him again. But here he was, and she didn't find herself overly surprised. She hadn't been trying to find him, but nor had she been hiding. This was a bar they'd both drunk together at before, and so it wasn't any sort of secret hideout.

This was the time that most people would spend in self reflection. Where was this thing going, what was this relationship in general, and skipping off into that wonderful cloud of warm and fuzzy. Spending time getting to know one another.

The only thing was Briareos and Kymopoleia looked psychotic cats trying to smile and be pleasant when they were used to clawing and scratching each other. This was their warm and fuzzy stage and it was weird. She couldn't blame this all on him because she had been the one to jump in and lend the hand. It was new to both of them.

The cut she'd stitched up had healed over leaving behind a nasty scar. Just another thing to add to the collection of things that made him cringe in the winter. Often times his back twisted and contorted in pain from the arms he used to have. To the world they were imaginary, but to him they were still very, very real.

Briareos had not planned on seeing Kymopoleia, she tended to stay on the run but he knew curiosity would drag her back. He'd never really attempted to clean up, and to some he still looked rugged. Even in lighter clothes he looked like the thin plankton that clung to a whale instead of the whale diving down into the deep ocean.

She didn't shift from her spot at the bar when he came closer, but nor did she really look up at him. When he was near enough she said, beer in hand, "don't you ever say what you said again."

"Say what?" His voice was low and very monotone. He rarely changed the pitch in his voice in any kind of emotional way. It was as blank as his expressions. She had started this. She couldn't blame anyone but herself. She'd saved his life twice now, Something was definitely changing.

"Dating." The word was hissed and filled with hatred. "We are not fucking dating and whatever this..." she jabbed a finger between the two of them "this... thing is, it's not going to turn into you and me as any sort of- whatever."

There were a lot of new cultural things that Briareos was learning. She had asked him to come out and see her, according to people and their societal stigma of relationships and interactions that was what such a thing was called. They were married, divorce was a fairly new conception. Though marriage in itself had only once been to him what made her his.

"What would you call it?" She'd warned up to him in a way he'd never been familiar with. Now she was rejecting him?

"I'd call it..." what would she even call it? It certianly wasn't friendship, not that. But... "I'd call it 'I can stand you slightly more than I can stand most everyone else in this damn city and sometimes I just want someone to fucking drink with', okay?"

"It's a mouthful." As creatures of the sea they weren't generally patient people, but it seemed that the fates had decided to make them. "You started it though." It started the first time she helped him crawl out of that dark hole Poseidon had put him in. Being hit by Eros' arrows last year had sped things along a little when they both were not willing to accept what they were thinking deep down. Now, now they were in this limbo phase until something happened, what he wasn't sure.

"I started it," Kymopoleia clarified angrily, "by not letting you die, not by making doe eyes at you or wanting to fuck you. We," she said firmly, each word annunciated, "Are. Not. Fucking. You got that?"

It hadn't been what he was thinking. Though there was a lot about being married to her that involved more than just having her as a slave. He didn't understand things in that way not the way normal people did. HIs fist clenched as she continued to lecture him like she could make him do anything she wanted. Her tempestuous nature was going to get the better of her if she didn't stop. "Don't tell me what to do." He wasn't saying he was going to hurt her, he'd made that oath, but he was trying as well as her to get through this---whatever it was.

"Don't tell you that you're not getting to fuck me?" Kymopoleia asked and then she smirked, her expression dark. "Sorry, honey, you're not strong enough for that shit anymore. Just try and take me."

She was laughing at him inwardly. He could feel it. It must feel good to her to know she had such power over him, but more and more he didn't want to feel like he was her prisoner.

"Sounds as if you would." Maybe she wasn't attracted to him before, but now there was more there than had ever been before.
