He rolled his eyes, "you only see your side Demeter. I know she fears me, belief shapes us all, and it kills me to know I've caused her so much pain. All these centuries, I've tried finding some sort of balance. She fears me in Autumn, but in winter she's my wife. And in Spring she withdraws from me. But aside from that, she still loves me."
He held up a hand, "I'm not saying that to get under your skin, I'm trying to have you see it from my side too. It's not easy on either of us, me or Persephone. I earned her love, eventually, and every Autumn I endeavor to earn it again."
"But we've both lived half lives. She came up with the idea for me to court her during Spring and Summer. And we aren't breaking the rules. She stays with you, but me being no longer bound to my realm, I am able to see her. I've told you time and time again that when she's here the door is wide open for you." He motioned to the door. "You keep yourself away because you don't understand that Kore and Persephone are the same thing. I didn't either until I got to know Kore more. She's different, but the Iron Queen hides under the flowers just as the flowers are hiding under the Iron Queen." He hoped she'd understand that.
"Persephone is a creature of both our worlds. The rules have shifted Demeter. And I'm tired of being lonely during Spring and Summer. We can compromise." he motioned to the seat she'd left. "And Persephone wants you around, despite the coldness. you just have to see beyond. Like I did."
"And I put my daughter on an island and gave the other enough ghosts to ward off a small army. What do you think I'd do?" He raised an eyebrow at her. "I'm not saying I don't understand. I'm saying that you need to look beyond it all and to what really matters. You're going to get another grandchild soon. Look to what he'd need."
