Current mood: cheerful

WHO: Joey and Nikkie
WHAT: A night in Sleepy Hollow
WHEN: Friday night
WHERE: The van der Berg house in Sleepy Hollow/North Tarrytown
WARNINGS: Possibly the lead up to/aftermath of sex, but it'll fade to black

While Joey wasn't fond of his family or anything they represented, he had to admit that he did love his family's homestead in Sleepy Hollow. His family were among the original Dutch families who had settled Tarrytown and the homestead had always been there. Of course it had been updated over the years, but a lot of the original details remained, including the staircase. Even the bedroom they would be staying in was lovely.

The moment they arrived, Joey carried their bags in and flipped the electricity on. "You know...it's nice that my family can disown me, but they can't take the key to this place away." They could always change the locks, but that would be hard on the antique doors.

Nikkie could feel her eyes getting bigger and bigger as she walked into the house. "Oh, wow," she breathed, looking from details to rooms and trying to take everything in. "This place is gorgeous." She was pretty sure she was gawking like a tourist, but she couldn't bring herself to care.

"This is the kind of place old money can keep just for random weekends," he said with a bit of a groan. "It's really nice though. I actually have some nice memories from this place. And those are few and far between."

"It's pretty damn awesome," she agreed, finally managing to tear her eyes away from the surroundings. "But I'm glad you have some fond memories here. How old is this place?"

"Early 1700s, though they have renovated several times since then," he acknowledged. "Want a tour?"

"Ooh, yes please," she replied. "You might have to drag me along, I just like to look at things sometimes, and before I know it, two hours have passed."

Joey chuckled and he extended a hand out to her with a grin. "Well this is the original entry way, and through here there's a kitchen. Thankfully that's been all refitted and it's only about two years old now. When I was growing up it hadn't been updated in decades and it was ridiculous."

Nikkie took his hand and followed after him as he talked about the house. "An up to date kitchen is so important," she agreed, smiling. "I had an apartment back home where I'd swear the kitchen hadn't been touched since the 50's."

"It's just not easy to boil anything with a wood burning stove that just won't heat up. Of course we had a cook so I suppose it was her issue," he said with a sigh. "Here, up the stairs."

He led her up to their bedroom and waved his hands around. "This is the master bedroom. My parents used to forbid us entry."
