Who: Elizabeth & Prometheus
What: A meeting of old friends.
When: Late Sunday afternoon
Where: Prometheus' studio
Elizabeth had never really gotten the hang of this whole 'calling ahead' thing. She'd been the queen of the most powerful country on earth. If Elizabeth showed up unexpected you had damn well better be ready for her and whatever she wanted.
That morning she'd had a frantic call from one of her clients to say that her husband was trying to keep a substantial amount of the art in the divorce. Elizabeth had gone to the woman and together they'd cataloged everything she owned and when and where she'd bought it. Elizabeth's eye was on for a few of the sculptures and she'd asked about the artist, his name at least.
Then at her own apartment she'd looked up him and finally found a photo of the elusive figure himself. She smiled at the computer screen, relaxing back into her chair. "There you are," she said to the photo.
Now she was dressed in white (still her favourite colour), with her coppery curls swept up and out of the way, as she knocked on the door of the building that belonged to Prometheus.

With the weather turning colder, Prometheus was glad for his added personal heat. It had always proven to be an advantage, even when he'd been chained. He had not expected anyone so when the knock came he looked at the piece he was making, before checking his phone to see if Aidan or Jade had called.
Seeing no name he rose and wiped his hands off on a rag before opening the door. He glanced to the figure before giving her another look, then he grinned. "Lizzie!" Prometheus had forgotten the old court etiquette ages ago, and had never been good with sticking to it, so he stepped forward to sweep her into a hug. "My Gods, where have you been?"

Elizabeth laughed in delight at how pleased he was to see her and she returned the hug before drawing away. "Hiding too well, it appears." She smiled at him. "Now invite me inside, old friend, before I barge my way in and lay claim to it myself."

He laughed and motioned her inside, "of course, come in. I didn't expect to see you. Sorry about the mess." Smiling he closed the door behind her before glancing at her as he walked inside. "You look wonderful. Can I get you something to drink?"

"Forgiven," Elizabeth said, looking around herself. "You forget that I've lived with you and have thus been privy to your working conditions." She flashed the Greek man a smile.
"Thank you," Elizabeth said, never one to ignore a compliment even if she'd like to pretend she was above it. "The years have given me height, a very nice change. Tea would be delightful, if you would?"

He laughed, "I did forget. But now I live alone, and there is no one telling me to clean up. Or eat. Or breathe for five minutes." He smirked, "and no one to force me to go outside."
"Tsk, now who am I going to tease huh?" He smirked and waved her up the stairs, "come on up. I live right up here and I do have tea." Once he was up stairs he started the kettle before picking up a few things and putting them aside. Then he paused and picked something up with a grin. "I made this on a whim. I think my forethought comes in handy sometimes." Smiling he handed her the small statue. "For you, Your Grace."

"Am I going to have to start mothering you?" Elizabeth asked him with a quirked eyebrow as she sat down. "As I've told you before, after playing mother to a country that won't behave itself, a Titan is child's play." He didn't look more unwell than she'd expected though. He'd always been so scrawny.
"And as for teasing me, I suspect you'll find another way to get beneath my skin." Her expression was amused though, and then when he passed her the statue it turned to genuine happiness. "Beautiful. You've not lost your touch," she told him as she turned it over in her hands. "I saw some of your work this morning, it's what led me here."

He laughed and shook his head. "I'm fine Lizzie. Just a bit lazy about cleaning up. I don't go out a lot but I have plenty of company. Besides my actual mother, I have Jade and Aidan. I appreciate the offer though."
"I would hope not." He smiled then went to get the mugs once the tea was finished, handing her one. "I keep being surprised by that, people having my art." He smiled as he sat down, "oh, and my daughter's here. You'd like her I think. She's wonderful. She needs more friends."

"Jade and Aidan?" Elizabeth questioned, unsure if they too were gods. They didn't sound like the names of gods. Elizabeth was glad his mother was here, whoever she was. Elizabeth felt he sometimes needed a mother even at his age.
"Oh, pish posh," Elizabeth said with dismissive wave of her hand. "Your art is wonderful." Elizabeth dumped spoonful after spoonful of sugar into her mug, still drinking her tea the way the Elizabethans had: almost more sugar than anything else. "I'd love to meet your daughter. Anyone of your flesh must be a worthy heart."

He sipped from his tea, trying to find a way to put this in a way so she wouldn't choke on her tea. He loved Lizzie, and he knew how she worked. He didn't want to upset her too badly. "They euh, they're dear to me." Then he decided to just be out with it. "Lovers, actually." He sipped from his tea again.
"I'll take your word for it." Then he shrugged, "She isn't, technically, of my flesh. She is a Greek Spirit. I crafted her physical body. She is my daughter in that aspect. Very Greek."

Prometheus during the era of Queen Victoria's reign and the repressed sensibilities then had near-worshiped Elizabeth for what they saw as the paragon of womanly virtue in her virginity. And that had shaped her, creating a woman who blushed at the merest fleeing mention of sex and grew light-headed at anything more. Apparently in this heroic woman they envisioned who led a country, they saw no place for the stomach of a man in any other way.
But time had changed again now, and although Elizabeth was discreet about her own sex life, she wasn't that timid Victorian flower any longer. So she looked at Prometheus in shock and demanded, "Two of them? Lord have mercy, this isn't Greece any more!" She lifted her teacup to her lips and found, as she shook her head, that her laughter was only a little horrified. "Oh Prometheus," she said to him as she put her cup down again, as entertained as she was scandalized. "I suppose 'congratulations' is what one says these days."
"Very Greek indeed," Elizabeth agreed, but it could be said that she was still on their earlier point.

He smirked at her over his teacup, tempted to say more but in stead just shrugged. "If it helps, Jade introduced me to Aidan, and he's lovely. So is she. All fire and spunk, that's Jade. Makes me blush sometimes. Aidan is a simmering fire that sparks very nicely." He set his hands around his cup and tipped his head. "I find myself happy, so thank you. And they are aware of one another."
He chuckled and set his cup down, "and what of yourself dear? Anyone of note?"

Although it wasn't a relationship that Elizabeth could (or wanted to) envision, the happiness was evident. And her friend deserved his happiness where it could be found. "Well, as long as you're happy I see no reason to make comment on it." She rubbed her hands together, metaphorically wiping them clean of the whole thing.
Elizabeth gave him a coy smile. "A lady doesn't share such things," she simply told him, before adding, "and you already know disinterest towards anything in that sway." (Although to say 'disinterest' was what the Virgin Queen had wouldn't be fully accurate and reminded herself that although Prometheus understood more than enough about that, he wouldn't bring it up now.)

He just smiled to her response but let it be. He knew her too well, cared too much, to press on those matters. "as the lady wishes. Makes it terribly hard to play the friendly ex though." He winked at her then before going for a smoke, "so what do you do these days, work wise? Tell me what fills your days."

When he described himself as 'the friendly ex' Elizabeth let out a loud bark of a laugh. "The ex," she said with amusement, sipping her tea. "I suppose you are that after all."
What they'd had over a century ago had been a marriage of convenience: Two immortals living together, Elizabeth taking his name for the public and playing the role of wife for the first and last time in her life. Nothing had ever been set down legally, nor had anything been consummated. But what they'd had had always held a place in her heart. He had been a friend to her when she'd needed that, and a man on her arm when society had demanded it.
"I'm a lawyer," Elizabeth told him, pulling out a business card and holding it out to him between two fingers. "Divorce lawyer. There's something incredibly satisfying about seeing men walk away with nothing. One might suggest I have unresolved issues." Her smile was small and playful.

He took the card, "well I hope I won't need you, but I'll make sure to call. I have cards somewhere around here but I'll just give you my number so you can tell me to eat." He smirked and set the card aside before giving a laugh, "how many men can say they married you Lizzie, even if it was fake? I'm keeping my ex status just so I can say 'I was married to Queen Bess. Makes for wonderful conversation."
He paused, "but I'm never telling my mother. She'd have my head." He shook his head, "she is the Titan of fame. She'd love you and wonder why I never married you for real." He smirked, "we all have issues. I have my own."

"Only you, my dear," Elizabeth assured him, "and you're likely to keep that title. Thankfully we've reached an age where it's appropriate for a driven woman to be unwed." And thank God for that. Elizabeth had spent so many decades pretending to be a widow or a religious sister just so people would stop questioning her morals, and now finally she could just be herself.
"Best we not meet," Elizabeth agreed as she considered his mother. "The infamy of ruling was always my least favourite part - well, most of the time-" she let a tiny smirk slip onto her lips. It had been fun when rightful enemies had feared her. "But I suspect your mother try to convince me otherwise."

"I'm quite alright with that." He didn't doubt she stayed alone, but he doubted he'd ever find her married. As long as she was happy. He nodded, "thank everything for that."
He smirked, "oh she will. Trust me. And I'll keep you out of her radar, as best I can, and give you warning should she decide to want to meet you. She's already pulled Jade and Aidan aside and questioned them on why they are not trying to get fame or if they're good enough for me." He gave her a look, "decades old, and I'm still being mothered."

Elizabeth laughed brightly at the idea of this Titan seeking her out for fame and then shook her head. "Perhaps we all need a little mothering even in our old age," Elizabeth told him. "I must confess, having lacked myself for motherly devotion, it seems rather sweet on her part. We always wish for what we don't have," she said with a shrug of her hands.
