Maddy smiled fondly as her mother came back in with the tea, pouring herself a cup. "Trust me, I do not need any more cake, our fridge is groaning as it is."
She grinned and ducked her head, letting her hair fall into her face. She was pretty sure she was blushing a little bit, too. "He was pretty adorable about it, too," she added. "I couldn't say no. Not that I wanted to."
