Lena looked back and forth between father and son for a second and then threw up her hands before she headed to the freezer for an ice pack. "Someone dragged him into an alley?" Lena stepped over to Thomas and knelt down so she could press the ice pack against his swollen lip. "Thomas, what happened?" She didn't know how coherent he would be, but there was a chance!
Thomas breathed out and his hand clenched around the ice pack. "This man pulled me in," he started. He knew he was slurring, but he tried his hardest to keep speaking. "I tried to get away, but other men held my arms. One hit me. The first one had a needle."
"And they just...gave you very expensive drugs?" she asked, massaging her temples.
"Mmm. And ran away. Didn't even take my wallet."
Lena glanced over at Jamie, clearly struggling with believing Thomas' story. "Jamie, did you see a needle or anything?"
