"They really are," Maddy agreed. "They were always there for us when we needed them, and when Tommy needed some help, they did whatever they could. They did for all of us, they let us know we could always come to them if we needed to."
She tilted her head to one side, thinking. "I started when I was 5, did it all through high school, so...13 years, I think? I entertained the idea of doing it as a major or something like that, but you have to be really incredible to make a career out of it, you know? And I was good, but I knew I'd never be quite at that level. Which was OK with me, really."
