"It really was," Maddy replied. "There's pictures of me in different uniforms and costumes, smiling like my face would split in half. I wasn't always the best one on the team, and when I was really young and new to dance, sometimes they put me in the back, but I didn't even care. I just wanted to do it to have fun. Mom and Dad were just like, 'OK, we'll sign you up, but you have to see it through to the end. No quitting because you think it's boring.' So I never did. And I ended up loving 90% of what I tried anyway."
