"As if either of us would let you go anywhere," Heroin said, patting Jess' hand.
"Right, we still have to bounce up and down and do sing-song voices for Diana!" Vicodin chimed in, laughing at the unimpressed look on his sister's face.
"Try it, bruder," she said, smiling slightly. To Jess, she said, "Sometimes I think he has a bit of a 60's attitude, all free love and peace and drugs. He probably would have fit in rather well."
Vicodin didn't mention that he'd done just that in San Francisco in the late 60's.
Jesse just sipped from his beer, watching them all. "I feel a bit like I've fallen down the rabbit hole," he said, shaking his head.
Vicodin patted him on the shoulder, smiling cheerfully. "You'll get used to it."
