Maddy swallowed hard. "I know," she told him, hugging them all before following the nurse into an exam room.
She sat on the exam table, idly poking at her phone but not really concentrating on anything. A doctor finally appeared and drew some blood, giving her some papers to sign. She promised to show up for her pre-results counselling, then gathered put her coat back on and gathered up her bag.
"Not too terrible," she said. "Still don't like seeing my own blood leaving my body, though."
