Nephthys smile was small but not insincere. She never knew where she stood with Set, but she was aware that seemed to go both ways. There was a long moment while Nephthys thought about his question, trying to decide what answer she should give as she watched him. But finally she said, "join me," with a nod. "I did not know that you were here either."
Had Hathor known that Set was here? Was he living here? In that case, the love goddess surely must have.
"It's been a while," she commented lightly. (At least, it sounded light. None of her words felt light around him. There was too much history, too many old hurts on both sides that could be uncovered with the slightest mis-spoken phrase, and Nephthys didn't want to fight.)
