Once upon a time, Semele had been a mortal girl in Greece. The granddaughter of Olympians, the priestess of the God King, a virgin untouched by any man. But then there was Zeus. Her Lord had swept into her life and she had fallen hard, willing to do anything at all for the god she now loved. And he had had given just as much to her, swearing unbreakable oaths to a mere mortal creature that now carried his child.

Semele didn't regret her mortal death, because without it she never would have been reborn as a goddess. As Thyone she had entered Olympus, completely deserving of her place at the side of her son. Semele always felt she deserved her places in life, no matter what.

Which is why Semele did something few once-mortal lovers of the Sky King must have attempted - she went to his own home without invitation to seek him out.

His building was rather upscale and so she dressed a little classier than she might otherwise have done, slipping easily into the building when someone else came out and heading up to the penthouse. Zeus was home. She could feel his thrumming energy even as she rode the elevator up. His energy was a drumbeat inside her bones.

At his door she knocked and, chin held high with pride, waited.

Things were surprisingly quiet in the Greek world. Not that Zeus was going to complain. It meant he had time for more pleasurable pursuits, since the court didn't reconvene until September.

The spark of wild energy approaching made him sit up and look towards the door, rising when the knock came. Finding Semele on the other side was unexpected, but never unwelcome. "What a pleasant surprise," he said, standing aside to let her pass.

For Semele, being called a surprise was always a compliment. She was the goddess of the frenzy, of course she liked throwing people off from the very start.

"I've been in the city a couple of weeks," Semele said, walking into his apartment without hesitation and taking it in. Very nice. Much nicer than the place she was currently staying, crammed into her granddaughter's place with four bandmates. Finally she turned back and Zeus and asked, "the little wife home?"

Hera could strike Semele dead with barely a flick of her fingers, and let Semele continued to taunt the Queen.

	"Would it matter to you if she was?" he asked, amused. "But no. Nothing from her for quite a while, and I can't say that I mind." He crossed to his liquor cabinet, removing a bottle of very old scotch and pouring a measure for each of them. "Not really, no," Semele admitted with a smile. "But a catfight would ruin my freshly done nails." She inspected them, silver and blue, and then watched him move towards the drinks, following slowly, slinking like a cat.

"Gathering my direction," was Semele's response to his question as she took the offered drink. "A new city means new streets, new dangers, and new pleasures. I've been stalking and dancing. And," she added, "doing a little spying to find you, my Lord Hypatus." She lowered her eyes, dark lashes fluttering. The demurity was all for show, but the respect she held for Zeus was true. She had cut the throats of bulls for Zeus, she had held her arms aloft to the heavens in offering, had spoken for the people as their priestess. And all that was before he ever even came to her bed. Her loyalty had not dimmed, although her usual irreverence didn't always make that clear.

	"And we can't have that," Zeus replied, an amused smile appearing on his face. He didn't buy the demure act for a moment, he knew Semele too well. But it was a pleasant change to be in a room with someone who wasn't screaming at him or threatening him or glaring at him in hatred. "And have you found it?" he asked, watching her face.
