"That is indeed a good thing," Jamie agreed. "We shall talk of this instead." The caffeine was going to his head. It was great to keep him going, but having too much and not enough sleep tended to make him silly.
Jamie nodded. "I can show you, if you don't mind me prattling on about Europe," he said. "I took so many pictures, it's ridiculous."
"Yeah?" he asked, cautiously hopeful. Some dark, nasty corner of his brain still fully expected her to skip out again, but he only had one mother. He wanted to try and give her a chance, even if it was hard.
