Isabelle put her hand to her chest in relief. She had been holding her breath terrified that her only companion was about to escape as well. "Thank you," she said. "She was a gift from John. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her." She took hold of Richard's arm feeling comfort already from his appearance. He didn't know just how important this was to her.
"You didn't have to take time out of your day to spend it with me." She nudged him with her elbow in the side softly. "But, I'm sure glad you did. Now you can show me off." It would get a rouse out of John she was sure, but one thing she would never do is put herself on the backseat for some guy. John was her boyfriend, but she had already started to lose part of herself. How much was too much? Could he really deny her company? No. She wasn't a pet. For some reason, just Richard being there made her feel stronger. She smiled softly, the first one in a long time. "Anywhere that is out of this neighborhood. "How about some pizza." She did rich and fancy all the time. She wanted a change.
