Jamie just wrapped his arms around his dad and held on. Truth be told, he didn't want to know. He knew his dad had given up a lot to raise him, to keep them both fed and keep the lights on, but he didn't know it had been that bad. And it wasn't the sort of thing he thought either of them really wanted to talk about further.
"Sounds good to me," he said. "I do want to see her and talk to her again, just not right now. She's got all the time in the world, I bet she can wait a couple days." He squeezed his dad's shoulder. "I know you wouldn't. I do know that."
