What: Girl time!

Where: Little market that Nikkie mentioned, then Lena's place

Nikkie didn't own a car, when she needed to go somewhere, she mostly walked or took the subway. (No buses if she could help it. Too many bad experiences on buses.) But she needed to go and collect Joey, so today, she opted for a cab. She called and had one sent to her house, and gave the driver his address. She texted him when they were a couple blocks away, telling him to meet her out front, and they could be on their merry way.

Joey was glad to be given the chance to spend time with both Lena and Nikkie, especially not in the hospital. He could tell them about going to an orchard with his new housemate as well.

When he recieved the text he did as Nikkie asked, waiting on the curb until the taxi swung by. He climbed in and offered Nikkie a kiss on the cheek. "Hi!" he said cheerfully. "Hey, have you ever met Lena's brother, Florian?"

	Nikkie just looked at him, the 'WTF' all over her face. "A giant fly," she repeated, a bit dubiously. "OK then." The taxi pulled up to the market, and Nikkie paid the driver and got out, stretching out her back. She sniffed the air and grinned. "Mmm, they must've just made some churros. Quick! 	Nikkie pulled open the door and called out a greeting to the clerk. She came in her every few days to get her snack fix, and most of them knew her by sight. She started browsing the aisles, pulling tasty-looking things off the shelves. The churros would come last so they stayed warmer longer. "Is everyone in Lena's family an artist?" she asked Joey. 	While Joey wouldn't have minded in the least if she had joined in, he forgot all of it when her hands were around his neck. He didn't want to focus too much on Nikkie while cheering Lena up, but being around her without kissing her these days...it wasn't easy. 	Nikkie just grinned and tapped him on the nose. "Maybe later," she said, heading up to the counter, her arms laden down with all manner of junk food. She and the clerk chatted a bit while she rang up Nikkie's choices and put them in bags. Nikkie paid and waved goodbye as they left the shop. She put her sunglasses back on and smiled at Joey. He smiled fondly at her as she tapped his nose and then he followed her to the counter to pay for his things as well.

"We shall! I hope Lena eats a lot of this. She hasn't had much of an appetite lately and I worry. I was pretty sick for a long time and I don't want her to go through that too." After Lucifer had set Joey free, he had been sickly rail thin for close to six months before he finally started eating right and gaining weight again. A lot of his hair had fallen out and he had felt rotten. He didn't want that for Lena.

Lena returned the hug, though she was glad Nikkie was gentle. Her back was still healing. "I'm alright. Everything still hurts, but it's not as bad." Lena went to hug Joey then, unsurprised he was even more gentle. He had been whipped too. He knew the unique pain of it. How it ached every time you moved your body because the wounds were so long and relentless.

"Sounds like a good deal to me!" she said cheefully, turning so she could lead them into the living room. Once there, she sat on the sofa sideways so her back wasn't resting against anything.

Joey sat down beside her, placing his bags on the coffee table. "I could get us all something to drink if you'd like!" He knew he was allowed to make himself at home in the Rainmayrs' place.

Lena looked very interested in amusing stories, and she giggled at the idea of using an ATM card to try to use a subway.

"They do look alike," Joey nodded. "And if we exchange stories, I have lots. I have boys boarding school stories and homeless on the street stories, though those are less funny and more sad. I have Joey and Xavier high on weed stories too. Lots of those."

"Some involve a Lena," she added.

Joey smiled at her and added, "well the homeless stories have a happy ending, to be fair!" He hadn't spent much time homeless, and he had Xavier to thank for that. "But they're still not as amusing as the time Xavier and Lena took something and then spent two hours arguing about the colour of our walls."

Lena made a face at the memory. "Oh god. And that was the last time I ever took a pill without knowing what it was."
