Mairead nodded and then she tried to smile weakly as Patrick returned with a slim stranger.
"May, this is Michael. I told him a little about what's going on, and he's going to help you. Okay? You can trust him, I do."
Michael may not have been great with emotions, but he was an angel and he could tell a terrified girl when he saw one. He wasted no time in letting out a bit of his angelic aura. Just enough so that Mairead would feel comforted and safe. Patrick knew immediately what Michael was doing and he was so grateful for it.
"Hi, Mairead. I'm Detective Michael Angel." Michael sat so he wasn't towering over the girl. "If you want to press charges against your parents, I can call in a few of my colleagues and they can take a statement. It also means that you'll have to see a doctor so we can have a medical analysis done. And a lab technician will have to take photos. It's not really all that pleasant, but it's evidence against them."
Mairead didn't look pleased but she firmed her jaw and nodded. "I want to do it."
