"I'm better at being alone," Ilsa said. "I get exhausted by people too quickly. I like people but I need them in small doses." She shrugged.
"India seems wonderful," she agreed, coming to sit down at the table to watch him cook. "Isn't tour guide a little below you? I'd like to try what you're making - I don't know much Indian food, at least not by name. When I lived in Hamm in Germany I was by a big Hindu temple though, and there were celebrations when they had sweets. I went there sometimes to find some peace and quiet or to worship" Then she shook her head a little. "I'm not Hindu, I should probably say that upfront. I'm not really anything. Just sort of... interested in faith. And I like watching people. Their faces when they're at worship, when they're engrossed in conversation with god. People become more honest, I think, in their expressions."
