Jamie was used to getting home before his dad, and then waiting an hour or so for him to come home. That wasn't unusual. But as the hours started to wear on and still no dad, he started to get a little worried. He texted his father, then called him, multiple times, with no response. He started to pace around the living room, his cell phone in his pocket, all thoughts of his homework forgotten.

Finally, finally, he heard the key turn in the lock, and the sounds of people coming inside. "Dad, I tried to call you, are you-" He cut himself off as he caught sight of his father. "Shit, Dad! What happened?!"
