Who: Demeter and Poseidon
What: Creeper brother runs across his sister-dearest
Where: Park
When: Thursday afternoon
Warnings: None, just awkwardness. Promise Demeter, no horses. =P
Despite the shorter days within these winter months, Poseidon took those long walks home with shades perched over his eyes to hide the sun. Unlike the rest of his Olympian clan (save Hades), he actually enjoyed this winter season, preferably because it blended right into his cold heart. There was a distinct swagger in his walk as passed by the park. He would have continued, but a energy caught his attention, faint though it may be, but very familiar.
Amused, the great ocean lord deviated down this new path with a terrifying grin on his face. He looked around for that Olympian beauty better known as Demeter. He could sniff her out anywhere.

In the park Demeter was making her way between the trees, fingers running slowly across the bark. The tingle on the back of her neck made her stop though and she turned, knowing who she would see there even though she'd not run into him since Greece.
"Hello, brother," she said coldly as she looked at Poseidon.

With his head held high, he titled it in a mock sign of affection. "Demeter, not a warmer welcome than that?" he leaned in, taller than her he was, taking his glasses off the bridge of that well defined nose.
"I thought you'd be ecstatic to see me," that phony grin, face just mere inches from her own.

Demeter stepped away from him, annoyed at his presumption. "The winter weather has clearly affected my temperament."
Of all the people she didn't want to see, Poseidon was at the very top of that list. She disliked Hades and Zeus but it was for the Sea King that Demeter held her most pure hatred.

"Ooo," he said with that dark chuckle. "I forgot you're not so fond of the cold." He ran his hands across his arms feigning the cold. The truth was everything from the inside out of Poseidon was cold and damp, just like the oceans he controlled.
It had been this time of year that Demeter had once trusted her brother, who held a rather disturbing infatuation with her. That much was true in the woman whom he'd chosen as his bride.
He took a step closer as she stepped away. There was a time that they had gotten along, but not anymore.

Demeter's lip twisted into a sneer as she looked up at him, not backing down. "What do you want?" she demanded from him. He left her disgusted.

"Is this a reoccurring question between family?" He laughed again, crossing his arms. Zeus had been just as stand-offish.
"Just paying my respected visits. You could be more generous than that," he said snaking an arm around her shoulder and forcing them to start walking. "Tell me, sister, how have you been?"

"I have been well," Demeter said, sounding for all the world completely as though she didn't despise every fiber of his being. "But then I was walking happily in the park and was come upon by scum." At that she shrugged off his arm roughly.
"I've no interest in playing your games, brother," she said, turning to glare up at Poseidon properly. "Speak your interest in me now."

He was genuinely interested, in some twisted way. She brushed him off coldly, his jaw clenching at the affronted action. "There was a time you treated me more tenderly than this," he said running a finger under her chin roughly.
"Who says I'm playing games," he let her have the space but continued to walk, those ice cold eyes glaring deep within hers, "Just a chat." Grin.
"Aren't you the least bit curious about me?" he flashed her a smile, as eerie as it was. There was a slight satisfied swag in his demeanor, which had everything to do with putting Amphitrite back on her cozy shelf a few nights before. Meaning, Poseidon was in a a far more pleasant mood.

"Fine," Demeter relented, although she didn't sound pleased about it. Her jaw was set. "Then tell me brother, how do you fare?"

"Very well, thank you for asking," was his snide reply, "Now that the little wife is obeying." His arms crossed back over against his chest.
"And what did I miss while I was away, sister? Anything exciting?"

Demeter's lip curled again at the mention of his wife. It unnerved her that he had gone and married a woman who so resembled Demeter after first defiling her. Demeter couldn't prove that there was any connection there but Poseidon's tastes were perverse and she had no doubt about it herself.
"Nothing," Demeter said simply, because why share anything with him?

"What?" his finger lined against her jaw, "She won't be going anywhere." He turned watching with cold eyes mortals walking down the same path. He was very possessive of Amphitrite in a way that most would find unnerving, and yet she was the same of him. She held more than his spirit in her, a surprise to any that he actually loved her.
"Really," he replied in that gruff, demanding voice. "Won't confide in me, dear sister? I"m hurt."

Demeter slapped his hand away from her and sneered, "I confide to you that your presence in the world disgusts me." They may not have seen it, but beneath Demeter's feet the grass was dying, curling up upon itself and spreading slowly around her.

A sneer curled from his upper lip, not at all liking the tone she used so hatefully. He may never show regret for what he'd done to Demeter, but there was a buried part of him still cared. "Bitter hag of a woman, your disgust offends me." His eyes narrowed. To the mortals still passing by where she let grass die, a light tremor passed beneath them. "You should know better next time than to run." He pointed a strong finger at her as if he were scolding her still.
"Things didn't have to be this way."

"Don't you threaten me," Demeter spat, wanting to claw his face off. Her body was shaking with anger she could barely keep inside herself.

"I'll do as I please," he replied huskily. "Things were nice, you ruined it." As if he could lay blame on her when he'd taken advantage of her distressed state then because of his own affections.

"You. If you had just played along, I wouldn't have been forced to hurt you." He hadn't ever meant to hurt her, but what Poseidon wanted and did were two different things at times. He wasn't subtle about it.

Demeter's eyes were just as cold and stormy as Poseidon's could ever get at his words. "Ah, we speak now of your defilement and betrayal while I sought Kore."
She leaned in towards him and her voice was a deadly hiss, each word spat with venom. "A fool I was then to trust you, and it would have been better that you had never found release from our father's gut for what a worthless being you grew to be."

"I cared for you," he hissed back, taking hold of her arm forcefully as she hissed in his face in a way he didn't approve of. "I thought you felt the same." To him, it hadn't been perverse, and Demeter had shown him a kindness then that gave him a safe place, but like most things with Poseidon, it wasn't enough.
"Be you to say that when you used to think so gently of me. I am the better of our brothers." Though he was the worst, he had turned himself into something ugly. His eyes were ice blue.

Poseidon was hurting her arm but there was nothing on her face that would have told him that as she could barely feel it at that moment.
"Cared for me?" she demanded. "You find me weeping for my stolen daughter and then force yourself upon me? That is your show of brotherly affection? You are the weakest and most pathetic God that Olympus ever dared to spit out."

His upper lip quivered, not at all pleased with the way she was addressing him, with that same disdain as she had the last time he'd seen her. That fateful day.
He let go of her arm, straightening up, tugging on the lapels of his coat. There was a side that longed for the time when she spoke to him with praise, it was as if he was always seeking that void.
Poseidon ran a hand through his hair, clearing his throat, appearing not disillusioned by her thrashing remarks. "You ran from me," he said simply sticking his nose in the air.

"And you gave chase," Demeter spat, her eyes looking him up and down with open disgust. "Like the beast you are are."
She turned her face from him then, surveying the few people in the park though none were close. When she finally looked back at Poseidon it was with cold eyes. "Are you done here yet?" she asked him. "Because I've already grown weary of your attempts to threaten me. I have no fear of you, little brother."

There was an amused smirk as she continued to flap her mouth around. Too much talk, not enough fight. If she wasn't going to talk nicely, then neither would he.
"I'm never done with you," he snorted with a laugh.

"Well I'm done with you," she told him coldly. She turned then to walk away from him, pretty sure he was only going to follow her anyway. He used to follow her around a long time ago, but that had been a simpler time and his actions hadn't left her filled with fury and disgust then.
