The week was a strange one. The headache he'd had since Eros' love games only got worse after he'd met with Phaedra. His head was still swimming with sweet nothings reminiscent of a hallmark card. It made him a little bitter on the subject now, though he had always found Phaedra the favorite. He deducted that he hadn't been himself, it had felt like someone else was playing mind control. So his bitterness turned to hate by the time Poseidon had requested to see him early Tuesday morning.
Theseus still looked as if he'd only just rolled out of bed, the scruff on his chin was starting to grow back.
"You know better than to walk in here like this." He motioned over Theseus' slouched stance. "Are you the son of a king or of a whore?" Theseus glared at Poseidon with a tight lip. Instead of slumping his head forward he chuckled.
"Depends on if you're talking about my mother or my father." The smirk was wiped quickly when he found himself pinned by the neck against the wall.
"I know you aren't getting smart with me. My patience is running thin with you Theseus. I've held off because I like you, but your welcome is running out. You're neither a god nor anything else than a washed up hero. I'm not Zeus. I don't play my favorites by handing out party favors for you to use. Choose your battles more wisely or you will lose your head."
He let him down, feet planted on the ground but just as quickly as Theseus thought his neck saved Poseidon turned throwing a hard punch to his gut. It hit like a thousand waves crashing against a pile of rock. He dropped to his knees cradling his stomach with what felt like fractured ribs.
Poseidon grabbed his chin abruptly, turning his face upward. "Are you loyal to me?" Poseidon sneered, grabbing Theseus' chin tighter when he didn't answer. Too many of his children turned their backs...but this one was not one of Amphitrite's. There was no golden glow on his head. "Answer me."
Theseus tried to gain control within his grip but it was futile. "My loyalty is to you father," he spoke slowly through gritted teeth.
"Good." He dropped him throwing a hard slap to his cheek, busting the skin with a bruise. "Remember that the next time you get overconfident."
Poseidon didn't have to remind him what he was supposed to get back, but Theseus turned his anger to the person who'd whipped his ego with her charm. Now he was tasting bitter blood instead of victory.
He found Lust at Ambrosia, the only place he knew to look for her. The girl at the desk insisted Lust was busy (whether she really was or not didn't matter). She told Theseus to come back later but he wasn't about to walk home empty handed. His temper was on edge. He ran a hand into his hair frazzled. It was the middle of the afternoon.
"I will be seen now," he said through a shake in his body, which was practically vibrating in waves of anger. Poseidon made him nothing more than a rat in a maze. Lust had cut off his tail so his direction now was unclear. He slammed his fist into the counter. "So help me gods, Now!" He was about to scale the stairs himself as he'd done before, only he wasn't here for the sex.
She had made a deal and if wasn't fulfilled.
