"I enjoy playing the Portal games, for what are most likely obvious reasons." He gestured to himself briefly, tone self-deprecating, and eyed the seat. "Portal 2 happens to be my favorite, what with the gel functions, but I remember playing Tetris a lot some time ago too, if that can still be considered a 'video game' by today's standards."
Carefully, he stepped over the magazine - ignoring the research project practically unfolding itself in his head - and gingerly sat down next to 4chan on the couch. With his collared shirt, he felt somewhat incongruous, not to mention that the proximity to another human being - or psychopomp; any physical being - necessitated by the seating arrangement made the entire experience that much more awkward. For god's sake, he wasn't even uncomfortably close to the other, he could get over it, couldn't he?
No, he couldn't. Higher Education shifted over towards the end of the couch, feeling the armrest dig into his side slightly. "Anyway," he said, hoping to cover the motion, "your apartment looks comfortable, even if this couch is too close to the television. You'll strain your eyes from this distance, especially if you watch high-definition television."
