Some of the ink had faded, but not so much that the outline wasn't visible. Greed pulled his arm back turning it around clearly seeing what she wasn't.
"You can't tell what it is?" He looked sourly disappointed.
------------------ Zoe gently took his wrist back in her hand and made an eek face as she looked at the doodle and then shook her head. She moved so her back was against his chest and she could see the doodle like he did. Not that it helped much right side up...
She squinted at it, "No.. of course.. it's a...." she made a face like she was trying to think of what it could be... well part of it looked like it could almost be.. "...uh... I mean clearly it's artistic." she pressed her lips together and looked at it some more.
------------------ He stuck his neck out proudly, sure that at her angle she could tell. "Well it's not as dainty as yours, but its that bird. The one you have. You said they come in pairs, but you only have one." It was a work of art, he'd scratched it out until he'd been satisfied with the design. The bird unlike hers was coated in fire, its brand far more tribal, befitting of the man-child Sin that wore it.
"Can't you see it?"
------------------ Zoe didn't understand at first what he was talking about but then.. oh... Oh! Her mouth dropped open as she traced one of the ink lines with her finger and didn't even know how to process that. Hers was a hybrid phoenix turtledove to remind her it was okay to be alone.. and him scratching one onto his arm was beyond sweet. She looked over her shoulder at him, her head leaning back to rest against his chest, "I see it..." she said softly and then smiled, really touched.
She looked back at the design and smiled again, it didn't look like hers but it was hers. She couldn't stop touching it as she asked, "Why'd you draw on it you?" and to the point where he was hurting his skin..
------------------ He shrugged in response. "It's been needling me. I know things were shitty in Kansas...but I don't want to forget." It had opened up a wide door, and as much as it fucked with his head it was something he wanted to keep in some way. A reminder to him.
------------------ She laughed, "You want to remember how shitty things were in Kansas?" where they basically realized they couldn't be together and she'd never be enough for him. Awesome. She tapped the doodle and grinned as she stepped away from him, "Don't use a sharpie."
------------------ "No I mean all that in here...." He pointed to his chest as she stepped aside.
"What's wrong with a sharpie?" He tugged his sleeve back. He grinned happily, "its hot isn't it?" He was proud of it.
------------------ She turned and looked at him, that same smile playing on her lips as she put a hand on his chest over his heart. She didn't say anything, she didn't really know anymore what to say or what might be construed as 'virtue trapping'. But it might be best if she didn't say anything at all in this area anymore. They never got anywhere except in horrible places.
She looked at him, "Because it's toxic and would take forever to wash out." she grinned and looked at him tenderly, "It's sweet." and because she knew that wasn't very macho, she raised her brows and quickly added, "And manly. So manly." nodding.
