Who: Liam, and Alastair's moody son, Willard [NPC] What: Willard and Liam have a nice (confusing) little talk Where: Liam's house, NYC When: Thursday, July 8th, morning
The first thing Liam did when Will entered his house, was quickly hide something behind his back. Will's eyebrows arched upward and Liam's lips spread into a grin which was far too wide for his face. He finished up by announcing a, "nothing!" apropos of ...well...nothing, since Will hadn't asked a single question, nor said a word yet.
"Uh...okay." Will licked his lips, but seemed unsure of what to do next.
Liam jumped up from his kitchen table and he backed into his bedroom where he quickly hid one of his many boxes of treasures under his bed. He loved just looking at them, but he didn't want to do it with Will watching. When he returned to the kitchen, Will was still standing in the doorway looking confused. "Leprechaun business?" Will asked carefully.
"Hey! The door is still open and all of New York City doesn't need to know that, hush up." Liam shook his head and he looked past Will but he didn't see Alastair anywhere. "Where's your father?"
Will rolled his eyes, which rather made Liam want to strangle him, though he resolved to tie Will's shoes together at some point instead. He did rather like the boy when he wasn't being broody and strangling him would only make Alastair sadder. "I came to see you by myself. Dad's still asleep."
"He probably didn't think he needed to get up early to make you breakfast after your stunning display of apathy yesterday. What is up with you anyway? Have you taken to grunting instead of speaking?" Liam stepped behind Will to close the door. It was hot, but he didn't want flies in the house. "It's incredibly boring, I'll have you know. Grunt grunt. Not easy to converse with."
"Have you ever been in love, Liam?" Will interrupted before Liam had a chance to go on about grunting. Will sat himself at Liam's table and he grabbed an apple from the fruitbowl that rested in the middle. Liam and Alastair had been close since the boy was five. He not only knew he was welcome, but he knew that asking Liam for permission to do things in his home annoyed Liam. Liam just wanted him to do them. Liam had been overjoyed when Will had finally gotten the hang of it. Having people ask him permission gave him too much responsibility; something he did not like one bit.
"Love? No." Liam shrugged and he sat across from Will. Were they really going to do this? Liam was not an advice giver. He wasn't qualified. What should he say? Oh! "Are you in love?"
"Yeah," Will said, his face brightened. Liam felt pleased he was so intuitive. He was like a conversation detective! Maybe he could do this. Will was even explaining more, so Liam listened intently. "With the awesomest girl. Her name is Tracy and she's like...oh my god she's so hot."
Liam's eyes widened and he asked, "like how hot?!" before he realised Will meant this Tracy was attractive and not actually hot as it pertained to temperature. Right. He was hip to Will's jive. Kind of. "Heh. Pretend I didn't say that last part. So you and this...hot-not-in-temperature girl are together?" Liam placed his elbows on the table and he leaned forward, his head in his hands. That was a listening pose. Or so he hoped. He had seen it on television.
"We're in love, Liam. We've been dating for two months and it's amazing." Will sighed the sigh of the terminally deluded. "And I have to be apart from her to spend time with Dad and it's agony."
Liam stared at Will, his face a blank slate. This just got weirder and weirder. Why did people even bother with love? It sounded horrible to Liam. "Wh..why? Did she hurt you?"
"I left my heart with her."
"Oh my god, what?!" Liam shrieked, absolutely traumatized by this startling revelation. In fact, his shriek had been so loud, it had shocked Will in turn. Will was now staring at Liam as if Liam had pulled a weapon on him.
"Not...my actual heart," Will explained as one would to a two-year-old. "Wow."
Liam calmed visibly, but he was still confused. "Well then I don't get it. I'm glad you didn't give her your heart, but it sounds like too much bother to me." Liam threw his hands up in the air. "You're here now and your dad is a great guy and you're acting like Night of the Living Dead. Have you seen that movie?"
"Uh..."
"It's really funny! Zombies are in it. That was why...with the grunting...because you're a zom- Anyway, your dad wants to spend time with you. He only gets to see you in the summer. So you shouldn't spend the entire time in your room. And really, if this girl Tracy hurts you, you shouldn't be with her. You're better than that, Will!" Liam clapped Will on the shoulder in a supportive manner.
"Uhm...thanks." Will stood, backing away from Liam.
"No problem!" Liam said brightly, pleased he had helped. Maybe he wasn't so bad at giving advice anyway! "Tell your dad hi from me!"
Will actually laughed then and he shook his head at Liam. "Sure thing, Liam. See you later," and he let himself out, taking Liam's apple with him.
Liam laughed once and he shrugged. "Tracy. Tracy the hot heart-eater. Terrifying." And with that, Liam went back to his treasure.
