Thank God, he thought and with a nod he followed her. He didn't see, or hear, them but that didn't always mean they were safe. He didn't know this girl, but she didn't deserve to be dragged back in Lukas' jaws for the three bats to play with whenever Lukas was done with her.
He was thankful to see the car, but he yelped when the big brown shape slid in front of him. Lukas. Of course it was Lukas. "Get away from her!" He kicked dust and rocks at the shape, but it did very little. Except maybe annoy Lukas.
