She looked like an injured puppy, tugging on his arm as a lifeline. He slung an arm around her waist her weight still falling forward. He sunk to the ground feeling around the inflicted ankle. It was already starting to puff up, poor girl.
Greed draped her arm around his neck, picking her up just under her knees to carry her up the stairs. "My car's a few blocks down."
This had turned out a little better than expected.

Zoe winced again when he poked around, keeping only her toes on the ground ever so often. She knew she'd need help out of the station but she went wide eyed, protesting, "Chance-- No, really-- you don't..!" as he picked her up. She was flustered because it was the first time he'd ever carried her and it was an intimate position to be in when they weren't on the best terms. But she relaxed after a tense moment, her body finally feeling like it wasn't in fight or flight as it started shaking a little. She put her other arm around his neck, resting her brow against the side of his jaw as she closed her eyes and said a soft, "Thank you.." but something in the back of her mind was trying to get her attention.

She wasn't heavy but the added weight tore the wound open a little more with each step on his side. His shirt was already soaked with his own blood from the cut Joe had managed before running off.
He was gloating inside that she was glued to him. He laid his cheek against the top of her head, both of them getting glimpses of the sides they liked because the blinders were off for a few minutes.

It was a moment of peace and the past all wrapped up into one but Zoe noticed the blood pretty soon, it was staining her jacket too. Pretty much everything she was wearing was headed for the trash. "Chance.. ohmygod, you're bleeding!? Put me down!" was he crazy? He was injured and was carting her around like no big deal? Ugh, he was just going to make things worse for himself. She had a sprained ankle and a few cuts and bruises, he was bleeding.
