He saw a slight change in her face as he lied, one he didn't like nor understood. Did she not want him to be able to handle a dance? She had been so excited over it- and truthfully so had he- and she looked so pretty in her dress that he didn't want to ruin it. He had failed. Xander kicked himself, he knew he had failed. He messed everything up. The violent personality told him to shut up and man up so they could eat something tastey tonight. His eyes looked over in the direction of the refreshments. It was hard to see through the people, but he could smell the fruit punch and snacks that had been set out. The food smelled bland.
Following her lead, he looked toward the dance floor. Several couples were dancing very close to each other, their hands all over each other until a chaperon stopped them, and a few small circles of friends stood amongst the couples dancing in similar manners to the faster song. He leaned closer to her. "Persephone only taught me to slow dance..." He whispered like it was a secret.
