WHO: Jessie & Ariadne
WHEN: Wednesday afternoon
WHERE: Naxos
WHAT: Friendly drinkings

Often when Jessie was working the right hours that she finished in the evening, she'd lock up the bakery and pack together a small box of sweet things that hadn't been sold. Then she'd walk the four three blocks between there and the bar Naxos, hoping to see either of the owners of another of the regulars. Over the last few years she'd managed to make some good friendships just through fellow wine lovers and it was a nice feeling to walk into a place and have them know you.

Today as she walked in she saw almost right away the blonde head of Aria behind the bar and lifted a hand to wave to her, not wanting to distract her if she was busy with work but not wanting to be rude and ignore her either. She went to sit at the end of the bar, putting the cake box up beside her.

When she noticed Jessie she smiled and broke off from her current patrons to go to the girl. Being the owner had some benefits, and she liked this girl. So did Dionysus but she kept him at bay as much as she could.

"Hello there!" Without asking she set a glass in front of Jessie and poured her some wine. Diluted from the stock she sold immortals, but still Dionysus'. Regulars, especially ones she liked, always got that benefit. "Here you are. Hows it going?"

"Perfect," Jessie said with a smile at the glass. They knew Jessie well enough by now that she was trusted to settle up at the end of the night and she always did. She pushed the white box towards Aria. "Today we have a collection of strawberry torte, pumpkin cheesecake, and chocolate croissants. Take them away from me and my day will be complete!" She grinned and picked up her glass.

"Oh!" Happily she took a box and grabbed one of the croissants to bite into it. "You do amazing work Jessie, and thank you." She never counted the first glass for regulars, and often only charged when they downed the entire bottle. She could afford that now.

She set the strawberry torte's in a fridge for Dionysus, knowing he'd like them, and set about sharing the cheesecake with her employees.

"You're very welcome," Jessie told her with a smile, taking a sip of her wine. She wasn't sure if it was something about the atmosphere, but the wine here was always better, no matter what she ordered. It was strange but nice.

"How's your day been?" she asked when Aria returned from cake-sharing.

"So far so good," she never minded talking to people. Sometimes it was nice not to be Ariadne, and just the owner of a bar. "The winter has a lot of people coming to find warmth, which helps business." She shrugged and then smiled, "me and Dion went off to see his vineyards a couple of weeks ago. That was nice."

"I always find it kind of weird that he has vineyards, plural," Jessie confided with a smile. "He never really looks the type! Glad you had a chance to get away though. Things have been crazy around here recently."

She gave a shrug, "some of it was in his family for ages. And he's really good at the process. They have people who run it." Ever since she'd put her husband on a budget they'd been doing well enough. "To be fair, he doesn't look like a type for much. And I married him." She gave a happy sigh, "Wouldn't change it though. And yes I know. He didn't do so well when the black out hit. He's getting better though."

"You two are so cute together," Jessie grinned, sipping her wine as she looked at Aria.

Jessie shook her head, remembering the darkness. "I don't think anyone took it well. They still have no idea what caused it, either. Isn't that terrifying? And then there was Sandy! With all this crazy weather," Jessie said, "sometimes I think those Mayan apocalypse people might be onto something."

She giggled, "my goal is to kill people with PDA." She was glad someone thought they worked together. Not everyone agreed there.

She glanced aside, "he's just got some bad memories. His stepmother had him committed a few years back. Sudden changes aren't something he deals with well. And it is." Even though she had an idea what it had been. "Well I hope not. I have plans for 2013."

"Well, you're doing," Jessie agreed with a gentle laugh of her own.

Jessie's eyes went a little wide and she stammered over her words apologetically, "Oh, sorry, I didn't know that he had- um, sorry." She didn't have all that much real knowledge about the sort of things people got put away into hospitals before, except for Joey's friend Xavier (who she never felt all that helpful with when he was having a bad turn). "Well, tell him I hope he's doing okay?"

"It's alright." It was the easiest way of explaining how Dionysus could be around those who didn't know
who
they were dealing with. "Certainly not your fault. And you know how some people can be. Dion didn't conform to the rules. You've seen him. Wears my things more then his own. Flirts with everything. His stepmother did not approve." She sighed. "So I don't get along very well with my in laws. But I will tell him. He'll appreciate it."
