Who: Robin Hood and Marian
What: 7 am proposals
When: Friday
Where: Park by the tree he carved their initials in last Valentine's
Warning: Fluff

Robin had left Marian hanging for centuries, so he just a few more minutes wouldn't cost him much more. Their world was changing by the day. The eerie darkness had given him a punch in the gut. Robin didn't want to settle with marriage, but he also would never have another woman he loved as much as Marian.

When she showed, he wasn't there at 7 am like he'd instructed. Or at least it appeared that way. Robin hung back just a little to see how long she would stand there. Or if she believed him at all after all this time.

To her great fortune, Marian had been out of town on a work related trip when the darkness had struck. Which meant she had missed all the fun and excitement of the past weekend. She couldn't say she was at all disappointed because that was not something that sound enjoyable in the least. But it did worry her because people she cared about had been stuck in the city at the time. Only Robin's 'requests' had soothed her concerns.

Marian was often very punctual so she arrived several minutes beforehand with no anticipation of Robin being there just yet. Of course, when the minutes dragged on she just leaned against the tree and looked out at the area at large, wondering which way he'd be coming from or if he was just toying with her. Which would only make her angry. But she did have faith in the man.

When Robin had thought her to have waited long enough, he crept put from the fog which had started to settle as the sun rose high. He looked cheeky, even as he'd traded in his leather, hoodie and jeans for a sleek suit. Marian would laugh herself silly.

In his hand he held a single white rose, which he handed to her. Inside it's delicate white pedals was her ring. It was all the crouching on the knee that he hadn't practiced enough.

Marian could feel him before he finally stepped out of whatever his hiding place was. Of course, she could have chalked it up to the fog just covering him up so that she couldn't see him. So she just leaned against the tree wondering if he was going to make this a loud event.

Marian hadn't had a clue whether this was going to be a romantic affair or casual, or somewhere in between. So when he showed up wearing that suit she felt rather underdressed. Now she wished she'd at least thrown a skirt on, but it was much too late for that. But she couldn't help grinning at how Robin was dressed. "Don't you look dashing," she took the rose gently. It took no time at all for her to see the ring. While there was a voice in her head that said this had better been paid for she ignored it because, come on! "Oh Robin," she said, looking down at the ring fondly.

"Yes I paid for it," he said giving her a half-smirk. Though he had spotted a sporty yellow car the other day that if he 'borrowed' he could get some good money off it to reimburse his pockets.

"It's this part I haven't really practiced yet," he didn't know whether to take her hand first or get on his knee. He was awkward at trying to do one or the other first before standing back up and adjusting himself. He fixed his tie and cleared his throat. Third time was a charm. Once he was settled on one knee he took her hand and placed the ring on her finger. "Will you marry me?" Though more concerning should have been what had caused him to finally bite the bullet.

Marian smirked, "I didn't say anything." She looked as innocent as possible, because she knew he knew what she was thinking.

As Marian watched him she couldn't help but giggle. It was hilarious and adorable and romantic and awkward. And it was the sweetest moment of her entire existence. It did amaze her that he had correctly chosen her ring size. Blushing, she smiled widely, "Of course I will." She urged him closer and kissed him.

It was never a question if Robin would ever abuse his relationship with Marian, he had never adored any woman as much as her. He would go to the ends of the earth to save her, but then she could do some serious ass-kicking herself. The question had always been when. He'd died the first time not ever making way to his one promise to her which was to be with her forever.

The time for that was now. Arms settled themselves around her lovingly. "If you'd have said no, I would have had to pawn that," he teased.

It wasn't something Marian had obsessed over, but it had come to mind many, many times. Had he waited much longer she would have had to give up on any prospect of marriage because there would never be anyone as good as Robin. But then she wasn't sure just staying sweethearts would have been enough.

Marian smirked, "I'm sure they would have let you return it."

"I wouldn't have wanted to return it." Marian was the last woman on earth for Robin. He didn't know what made him uncomfortable about marriage. It just took him forever to make the choice. "Would you have waited forever?"
