Emma was usually adventurous and doing exciting things. But right now, being on a motorcycle in these conditions was not her cup of tea. Maybe if there was light and she knew people weren't actually trying to make them wreck, then maybe she would be okay with this. But she wasn't.
Her face buried into his back because she didn't want to see anything. She didn't want to see or hear the people or the voices. She knew they were there and that was terrifying enough. So she kept her eyes shut tight and her face against his back because it felt like the safest place to be right now. That sudden stop and go made her cry out but she quickly recovered.
She was shivering, partly from fear and partly from the cold. She clambered off the bike rather clumsily and headed straight for his building. "I'm fine," she reassured him. "Really, just fine. I just want to get inside as quickly as possible."
