She could sense there was something he'd held back at the last moment, but if he'd wanted her to know, he would have said it, and so she didn't press, simply finished off her drink and gathered up the trash from her lunch.
"Well nevermind that now," she said kindly. "I am going to embrace my stereotypical Britishness and make us some tea. In the microwave, but we haven't got a kettle...or a stove...so we'll have to make do. Just don't tell my mum," she added with a wink. "But yeah, bring her around whenever, you usually know where to find me. And remind me to never piss off her gods."
