Piper put her fork down and gave him all of her attention. "You look like a teenager trying to tell his mum he wrecked her car," she said, in an attempt to lighten the mood. "Whatever it is...you can tell me."
She had to pause for a minute and take all of that in. "I guess I just...never really questioned it," she said quietly. "After all, Andersen is such a common surname. And the job practically fell into my lap, I was just too busy being grateful I had one, you know?"
She looked at him again, eyes locked on his. "What, exactly, are you trying to tell me?" she asked at last.
